Puffy

Even though the server had been ruined at the start, she didn't understand. How did someone have the guts, the nerve, the kill a child?!

She had taken care of him. He was going to do so well. Him and Tubbo and Ranboo, against the world, not having to fear it anymore.

Why did the adults always disappoint her? They are supposed to be the mature ones, the ones who know better. Even Niki had betrayed that.

Puffy realized that she had tears trailing her face. She was still in front of Sam, next to the prison.

"Puffy..."

"Why didn't you protect him."

"What?"

Puffy looked up at him. "You didn't do anything to protect him, Sam. You left him in that prison with the one person that Tommy feared the most."

"There was a security breach. I had to-"

"Sam, this is why I told you that we needed more people there." She said. "You left them alone."

Her voice broke. She wanted to kill Sam, to kill Dream, anyone who ever hurt any of them.

"Puffy. There wasn't anything I could do."

"But there was Sam, there was so much that you could have done."

There was silence.

"I need to go back to the prison." Sam said. Then he had the nerve to leave her.

Tommy was gone. Simply gone. And Sam seemed unfazed.

Tubbo and Ranboo.

She hadn't even thought about them. She needed to go to them.

She ran as fast as her legs would let her, trying to get to Snowchester. She realized how far away it really was, but she could feel the air get older. Eventually, she could see wooden houses in the distance, her footsteps crunching in the snow.

Once she reached the door of their house, she took a deep breath. Then she knocked.

"Coming!!" Tubbo's voice said. He opened the door, holding Michael.

"Oh jeez, what's wrong?" He asked.

"Can I come in for this?"

"Of course."

Tubbo sat her down in a chair next to a lit fireplace, giving her a cup of hot chocolate. He put Michael in his room.

He came over and sat down.

"Puffy, what happened?"

Puffy stared him in the eyes.

"Tommy's gone."

Tubbo looked at her, confused. "In what way? Last time I checked, he was stuck in the prison."

"Um, good news is that he's not in the prison. Bad news..."

Tubbo waited.

"Is that he's not anywhere with us anymore."

"What?"

Puffy held in more of those stupid tears. "Tubbo, Tommy's dead. Dream killed him."

Puffy couldn't read him. His best friend had just died. After all he had been through...

"Tubbo,, I'm so sorry."

"Fine." Tubbo said, but he wasn't talking to her. He was looking down at the floor, talking to himself. "It's- fine. I'm good, why would I not be. I'm fine."

He looked up at her and smiled. It terrified her that it was his normal smile, as if nothing had happened.

"Well, thanks for the visit, Puffy. You can take the hot chocolate with you."

When Puffy left, she wished she could help. She would. She didn't know how yet, but she wouldn't let Tubbo and Ranboo fall down that kind of rabbit hole.

Puffy started to walk home.
