THE NEXT MORNING Dixie woke up due to her alarm. She was sprawled on the couch alongside Addison who was snoring peacefully.

That girl could sleep through a tornado.

She checked the time. 7:30.

She immediately jumped off the couch and started the shower.

She didn't wake up Addison for her shift was at 9:30 and she would wake up by then. Or at least she hoped.

She turned off the water and got ready for the day.

She grabbed her phone, wallet, and a light jacket as she ran a block to the bus stop.

The bus was about to leave when Walter, the bus driver, saw Dixie running. He stopped the bus long enough for her to grab a seat onboard.

"Late again?" he asked.

Dixie sighed. "Sorry Walter, had a late night."

"Don't you always?"

To others Walter would seem quite rude but it was just their humor. Ever since Addison and Dixie moved to their small apartment, they had became friends with the humorous bus driver Walter.

Since that was a while ago, they had became good friends.

Dixie scrolled on her phone until she heard Walter call out her stop and she got off the bus.

She arrived just on time for her shift and she immediately got to work, getting the orders from a couple of giggly teenage girls.

She gave the ticket to the chefs and continued to serve other customers.

***

It was half past two(a/n: that's 2:30 for all the people like me who are like "wtf is this" when they see stuff like this) when Dixie had finally finished cleaning up a table. She wiped her forehead with the back of her hand and tucked the cloth in the front of her apron.

Addison had arrived as well, making her long shift enjoyable.

Actually, who was she lying to? Her strainous shift full of crying babies, and pervy teenagers couldn't be less depressing even with Addison's quirky remarks.

She heard the bell ring, signaling that another customer had come in.

One of her coworkers, Sasha, had already gone to greet the customers so Dixie payed no mind and continued on setting the table she had finished cleaning.

She smelled an unusually attractive smell as she walked by Sasha and the other customers, but she brushed it off as someone's fragrant perfume.

However she couldn't help but sigh peacefully at the pine and mint smell.

After a few moments however, the smell disappeared and Dixie continued to work as usual.

It was later when she heard a deep husky voice, no doubt the customer that had just come in, call out for a waiter when she got her first interaction with him.

She expected Sasha to assist them but when she heard no footsteps and looked around to see no one, she stopped stacking some plates and walked over to the table.

That's when she caught his seductive, grey eyes.

His dark brown hair covered his forehead and his plump, pink lips added a nice contrast to his handsome tan face.

Dixie immediately blushed at her attraction to this man but shrugged it off. This was strictly professional. She couldn't be swooning while she was working. It simply wouldn't do.

So with that she snapped out of her daydream. "What can I help you with?" she cheerfully questioned.

"Some water spilled," the man said pointing at a knocked over glass and drenched napkins.

Dixie nodded and got out her rag. She quickly swiped up the mess.

Him and his companion, who she didn't even notice at first, muttered a quick thanks and got back to discussing whatever they were discussing.

Dixie couldn't help but notice how strange the situation was.

The glass seemed in a position that it was almost purposefully knocked over. And with the other man smirking, and the first man seeming disappointed when she left, it made one assume that they wanted her to come over here.

She could feel their stares on her back as she tooked the deserted plates and went inside the kitchen to put in the sink. She got a new rag for her old one was too dirty, and she refilled on her spray bottle.

She went outside, half hoping to see the mysterious man, but she didn't know why.

However, she was left with the sight of Sasha cleaning up the table and the men nowhere in sight.

"Hmm, who are you looking for?" Addison asked.

Dixie spun around. "No one."

Addison put the straw in the drink she was making and looked at Dixie. "Don't lie to me, you were obviously hoping to see someone," she said, sliding the drink over to a waiter.

"Well, there was somebody. But there's another customer waiting to be seated so I'll just tell you at home," Dixie zoomed off.

"I won't forget about this!"Addison called after her. The cafe was busy but Dixie could still hear her and she smiled a little at her best friend.

"-it was really weird!" Dixie exclaimed as she finished the story of the mysterious man and his companion.

The two girls were on the sofa of their living room, in their pajamas discussing their day.

Addison obnoxiously slurped the rest of her drink up and set it to the side. "You know what? I do remember smelling something, not like mint and pine, something more heavy, when I walked past that table. Maybe someone got really good cologne taste?" Addison replied, posing it as more of a question.

Even though Addison seemed to deny whatever theory Dixie was coming up with, she couldn't help but think that it was quite strange.

Addison and Dixie both smelled different scents walking past the same table, but they didn't smell the other's scent.

"It is really weird." Dixie must've read Addison's mind as she blurted this out after a few moments of silence.

"Well why dwell on something that makes no sense when you can binge watch Gossip Girl?" Addison said, grabbing the remote.

"You know I'm going to be late again tomorrow, right?" Dixie asked, glancing at Addison.

"Well, that's not my problem, and for right now, it's not yours either."

Dixie sighed, knowing this was one argument she wasn't going to win.
