My eyes flew open as I sat straight up, gasping desperately for a breath. These nightmares just keep getting worse, and the meds don't seem to be helping. I instinctively grab my mask and creep into the kitchen for a glass of water.
The T.V. is on, Gizmo must have forgotten to turn it off. As I fill up a glass of water from the faucet, I feel a hand slip onto my shoulder. I jump and blindley swing in the dark.
"Sal! Sal, it's just me!" My dad's voice is sharp and clear, shining light into the foggy void that makes up my brain. I sigh and let my arms fall to my side.
"Sorry. Did I hit you?" In the dim light of the television, I see my dad holding the side of his head.
"Just a bump. Another nightmare?"
"Yeah. I'm okay though." I hand my dad a bag of frozen peas and slink back to my room.
