Vlad Dracula's grandmother in person... in front of me... I swallowed hard surprised and a bit intimidated given that, even if the Prince of Wallachia had never been a vampire, he was an extraordinary leader and warrior who led his people to the victory many times despite his cruel methods. The stories about his life and battles got mixed in my head with the books I read and the movies I watched, and in the head of every human, turning him into a legendary character. And she'd met him...

That's what I thought, the truth is that Mara's story wasn't clear: I knew a vampire gave her the gift on impulse to preserve her beauty some years before Dracula was born and she left Wallachia to live in Hungary, her home country, till the situation became unbearable when the people living in the village noticed that she wasn't getting old like normal humans do, but I didn't know if she kept contact with his son and grandson. Probably not, not only because of the vampire stuff, but because the entire region was unstable back then and suffered the Ottoman attacks constantly. It's hard to keep contact with your family when you country is always at war.

She was different from what I expected... I mean, she was really beautiful, of course. She looked like she was 40 years old, had dark hair and deep grey eyes with long lashes, her skin was pale but her cheeks turned red easily, her bone structure was delicate but looked like a powerful woman who didn't take shit from nobody, a chiselled jaw and a slightly aquiline nose made her look strong yet feminine. I could picture her in my head perfectly wearing a purple tunic, a fox fur cape and a gold crown... However, she was wearing ripped sapphire jeans, biker boots, a black T-shirt with a skeleton showing a middle finger and a pixie haircut with a shaved temple. Wow... The Grandmother of the Dragon had more tattoos than Ruby and Terra together judging by the amount of skin I could see of her arms and legs.

"Iselen, I'm happy to meet you finally, I've heard a lot about you... Nothing good, I'm afraid. Is that glass of wine for me? Thank you, I really need it. I came as soon as I could and even ran the last kilometres from Naples because I was unable to find a taxi..." I sat down slowly staring at the beautiful vampire in disbelief while my girls raised an eyebrow, shocked, and Marcus frowned confused.

The moment Terra confirmed me that Mara had arrived to the house, there was no chance of me going to take a nap despite I was exhausted; I wanted to meet her, of course, and Ruby decided to give me a drop of blood that helped me to get my strength back so I could get dressed and go to the living room. Dario went to Aren and Vera's bedroom to tell them the news, my friend wasn't happy about the interruption at first till she was introduced to our new illustrious guest, and was sat on the couch holding a glass of water staring at her shyly but mesmerized at the same time. Antonella brought snacks from the kitchen and left again to prepare a room and watch the dinner in the oven.

"Is someone talking shit about me behind my back?" I asked totally floored and she nodded, putting her glass of wine on the coffee table with a graceful movement. For a second, I pictured Julie bitching about me because I didn't let her join us in our bed the night of the party.

"But I've only heard good things about your girlfriend, Aren..." Suddenly, the atmosphere in the room got tense and Terra growled quietly... we all knew who had gave her that information, even Marcus, although he tried to ignore it. "Well, Iselen, you've been sharing private pics of vampires in your social media, exposing them to the entire world, apparently... on the Facebook page of Vera's gym."

"Sorry, what?" I opened my mouth wide in shock while all of them looked at me freaking out and my mind went blank, I shook my head frantically, words seemed to be stuck in my throat and I was unable to explain that it wasn't true. My eyes were full of tears and I felt on the verge of a nervous breakdown... till Terra held my mind, forcing me to calm down while Ruby rushed to sit down next to me, worried. "I've never..." I whispered out of breath.
