A/N:: sorry for the late update! I got caught up in other things so I didn't have time to write a lot this week. Thanks for being patient 😖

Y/N's joints ached as she sat up. The room she's been placed in was nothing akin to what she's seen before, with stained glass windows rising just below the ceiling trim. Even in this enclosed space, the wind seemed to blow.

The door swung open and a pleased Barbara appeared behind it. "You're awake! Are you any bit hungry? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?" Her voice was one that spoke like the calming currents of a rocky stream, much unlike Y/N has ever imagined. But the interrupting sound of a man coughing in the room next to hers shook her into reality.

"Err, I don't need anything. How much should I pay for this treatment?"

"Oh no, I don't expect anything from my patients! Healing is something I'm passionate about, so I do it for free. I would feel terrible if I had to accept any amount of Mora for this." Barbara frowned.

Fine with Y/N. As sweet as this gal was, she wouldn't spend a coin if she knew she could save a coin. "If you say so..."

Barbara hummed and tucked her blanket up to her neck. "You're able to leave anytime you want at this point, but-"

"Barbara!!" A high-pitched male's voice yelled in a hushed tone outside of Y/N's room. "I got hurt again, I need the Church's Deaconess to heal me!"

"A-Albert..." Barbara cursed her luck under her breath. "I have to take care of this, sorry for the trouble Y/N. Although, I would like you to stay a while."

Of course she would. Barbara's saved her twice since she's been here anyway, it was the least she could do. But unluckily for Albert, Y/N caught something... artificial about his wounds when he passed her door.

"You look real scraped up here. Come over to this bench, I can heal this real quick," Barbara sighed.

"Oh I don't think it's going to be quick. After all, this is a pretty brutal wound. Scarred from savage wolves..."

"It should be quick, but if there are any complications... I might have to attend to you for longer." Barbara knelt down at Albert's calf and attempted healing his wound with the only method she knew how, but nothing changed. The skin wasn't repairing itself and the blood still appeared fresh. "H-huh? My healing isn't doing anything!"

Albert was giddy, bouncing about in his seat with joy that he proved no effort to hide. No shame at all.

"Quit acting like a kid already," Y/N looked to Barbara. "There's something suspicious about his character. Please let me intervene."

Barbara stepped back, confused of what Y/N was insinuating about Albert. She's either too kind to say anything or just too damn innocent.

"W-What? What do you want from me already? I'm just a poor man who happened to run into some wolves in Wolvendom!" Albert put his hands up in mock surrender.
