PROLOGUE .

that day had been nothing but work . it felt as though it would never end . the man let out a heavy sigh , his eyes trailing over the various items in front of him . experiments were his passion , among his favorite hobbies with sketching . frustrated , his brows furrowed . what was he doing wrong ? why did the potions keep exploding ?

he huffed in annoyance . today was not the day for this . he glanced over to his student , sucrose , who had apparently fallen asleep on a desk . how long has he been working ? the sun was beginning to set from what he could see . he needed to finish this .

he carefully mixed and brewed different substances together , smiling in success once the final product was proven unexplosive . the next step is rather simple : test it . the hard part of that , however , is who or what to test it on .

a child's soft giggles caused him to perk up . could it be ? he set the potion back down on the table , dusting off the small dust fragments from his hands . once satisfied with the cleaning , he nodded and exited the room .

" [ name ] ! [ name ] ! " a little girl chirped , giggling as she was picked up and gently spun around by said individual .

albedo just stared at the scene , a soft hiss escaping his throat . [ name ] ... an interesting individual . though to albedo , they were more like a parasite who had just found a host . he tolerated it despite him telling himself he really shouldn't . they had done nothing wrong to him , but the feelings inside him say otherwise . not even the alchemist himself could pinpoint just what is causing him to feel this way towards the other . was it envy ? his introverted self ? he didn't know .

the said individual carefully sat the child down , looking over at the mysterious man with a grin . " ah , albedo ! im glad to see you ! anything new ? "

" mm ... " albedo hummed , a blank expression on his face as the two made eye contact . " i have conjured up a new experiment . however , i am lacking the actual experiment , i suppose you could say . " bitterness seemed to linger in his response and a small unnoticeable glare was sent towards [ name ] as he mentioned the word ' experiment ' .

[ name ] frowned , giving the child in the room a light head pat before stepping away . " surely sucrose could hel - "

" shes asleep . "

" then perhaps ... i could be of assistance ? "

his eyes widened . them ? of all people ? sure , he didn't like them all that much for whatever reason , but what if the experiment went wrong ? he would be blamed for it .

as if sensing the males hesitance , [ name ] let out a sigh , " im sure nothing bad would happen . hell , you're one of the best alchemists in all of teyvat ! "

he simply rolled his eyes . though , he was flattered they considered him among the best . " fine then . i suppose you could test the potion out . "

they nodded , letting the alchemist lead them to the room he had been just before as the child had ran off to play . there on the desk sat a bright blue potion , so bright and mysterious . it didn't look so bad . what could possibly go wrong ?

everything . everything could go wrong . [ name ] hesitantly picked up the bottle , staring at the contents in slight worry .

" what are you waiting for ?? " albedo impatiently grumbled .

" what if something bad happens ?? "

" you agreed to this . you will not know its bad until you're under the effects . now , are you going to try it or not ?? "

[ name ] frowned in defeat , raising the bottle up to their lips . though he wouldn't say , albedo worried for them . the words they had said earlier replayed in his mind : you're one of the best alchemists in all of teyvat . was it true ?

before he could say anything , [ name ] had consumed the potion . the two stood in awkward silence before [ name ] began to feel dizzy . without a warning , their body hit the ground , startling the alchemist .

" shit ! sucrose , get up and aid me , would you ?? "
