Y/n's POV:
After several years
"Don't slouch brat! I should have left you at the sidewalk I found you on." Oka san huffed as she peeled potatoes while I wiped the floor.
I mumbled as I dragged the wet drag along the old wooden tiles, "But ya didn't."
SMACK!!
Ow...
I rubbed my head as she scoffed and poured the potatoes into the boiling water, "You're turning 14 soon...what have you decided ..?" I tried to scrape the bubblegum off the wood while she waited for my response, "What do you mean..?"
"What do you want for your birthday?" She mumbled and I stared at her.
This is why you didn't deserve what happened to you
I hugged her leg again, "I just want you by my side Oka san!"
"YOU CHEEKY BRAT LET GO OF ME!" She shook me off, "YOU'RE NOT GETTING ANY BIRTHDAY. GO GET GROCERIES FROM THE MARKET."
I was kicked out and I landed on the ground with a plop.
I got up and dusted myself, picking the basket and the money, I made my way to the village market
I know, Oka san seems like a butt, but honestly she's the only honest person I had before the getting dragged into the palace. She means well, she's just anxious hiding this royal lady girlie.
Though this isn't about me, my cousin Momo actually had the same tale, with a more dramatic trait so I was outshined be her.
I frowned looking back at my previous life...or maybe the past? Whatever it was. It wasn't very happy and ...well I was to blame but this time things will change. I have a contingency plan.
Yes, I'm sure with this plan, everyone will have a happily ever after and I'll have mine without the glory of the castle.
Cuz who needs it? I'm happy living with my grumpy foster mother.
I walked past the forest, gliding my hand against the passing tree trunks and whistling a tune. It didn't take long to reach the market which seemed pretty busy today. People rushing out and old women demanding the shopkeepers to meet their demands, sly men bargaining and even more sly men scamming people into playing their tricky games.
I sighed and went to the desired shop, "How are you selling those apples Joe?" I asked putting my basket up on the wooden counter while he side glanced me.
"For anyone else? 3 silvers. But for you? Oh for you."
I batted my eyelashes, "For free?"
"5 silvers."
I pouted, "Oh come on! You can't still be mad at me? I didn't mean to bring your Apple pyramid down." The old man huffed and went back to tending to his apples.
I grumbled and pulled out 5 silvers, " You know your little revenge will earn me loads of smacking from my mother you know?" I slided him the money and he to my surprise didn't take it.
"It was a joke child. Haven't got used to my antics yet?"
Well I am continuously overwhelmed by my previous life.
"So 3 silvers?"
"Take it for free ya weasel."
I grinned and took it without hesitance. Constantly living in poverty teaches you not to miss any opportunity.
After finishing shopping, I bumped into a couple of kids, "Watch it brats." I mumbled and stood to pay for the bread.
