Chapter 19 ~ Into the Nether

You stood in Captain Obi's office along with the rest of the Company.

"They're in the nether ? You sure ?"

"Based on Licht's analysis of what clues were left after the attack on Vulcans workshop, we've determined that the Evangelist followers are hiding out underground."

You were a bit confused, You didn't know what the nether was

"Holy sol temple tells us the nether is a place far removed from the great sol's light, those caverns are both dark and unclean."

"For reasons we just heard from sister Iris, the nether which has roots beneath most of Tokyo is considered forbidden ground, this of course makes it the perfect place for a band of Cultists to set up shop."

"As for what the nether looks like it's comprised of the now defunct rail way tunnels that used to run throughout the city."

You then see a map of tunnels leading to a bunch of places

"My understanding was that most of the tunnels collapsed on the day of the great cataclysm but it's starting to look like more of them survived than one would expect. I look at what Giovanni left behind cross referenced that with a map of artificial combustion sites and found where they are." Says Viktor

He pointed to a place on the map that said Yotsuya.

"Tomorrow we're gonna bust into the secret lair of the bastards who've been burning innocent people alive. Well knock down all there doors and find the secret of human combustion. Expect a full in battle with all our lives at stake"

You were ready to lay your life on the line.

"We're bringing your brother home Shinra... as well as your sister y/n"

"Sir!" Both you and Shinra smiled

"Okay... let's get ready for tomorrow ! Dismissed."

*time skip*

You laid in bed trying to sleep, You somehow felt strange, you sat up and rubbed your head. You hopped off your bed and walked out, seeing the hallway dark, you assumed everyone was asleep. You walked into the kitchen and grabbed a cup of orange juice when you felt the ground shake, you saw a few things move

"Woah an earthquake.."

You all were in the back as Licht and Vulcan were in the front

"We starting to look like a company."

"We sure do."

Tamaki and Sister Iris were talking among themselves, Iris then looked at Shinra. You were leaned against the wall, you were nervous to say the least.

"In order to enter the nether, you have to obtain special permission from the church. Most request are summarily rejected"

"In light of our investigation, the temple has made a reluctant exception but only for company 8, it's like they think whoever goes down there'll be corrupted somehow."

"The temple says it's a tainted land connected to hell and home to inhuman creatures, nobody should go down there"

You could tell everyone seemed a bit uneasy from this whole Nether situation.

"I've never heard of it until now." You stated

Everyone looked at you

"I'm sure whatever is down there we can handle it." You smiled

Whatever you said, seemed to make the situation a bit less uneasy. Which you were glad for. It had been a while and you all finally arrived, getting down and arriving at the front door of it.
