Part Two: Show Me The Places Where The Others Gave You Scars

It was early in the morning, Elena was walking in the woods, searching for Klaus with a blanket she was holding. She spotted few more werewolves before reaching to him, making sure she was just looking at their faces, not really want people feel weird with the thought.

When she saw him, her steps got quickened. She was now wearing more fitting clothes for the century. She crouched down and covered his body with the blanket. With the feeling of cotton, Klaus opened his eyes slowly only to see her smiling to him. "Elena" He did not mistake her this time, he had his ways. She nodded and smiled to him, offering her hand to help him stand up. He smiled lightly and stood up as he was making sure that he was covered with the blanket. "Thank you"

Elena nodded and continued to walk but Klaus was not coming, instead he was waiting there anxiously. "Hey, what's wrong?" Klaus looked down, letting a few tears fall down shamelessly. Elena quickly walked to him and cupped his cheeks slowly. "Hey, hey there is nothing to cry. Everything is alright"

"I am not his son, am I?" Her face softened and her lips got slightly parted. She went to say something but she hushed herself and just shook her head. And she certainly did not expect him to wrap his arms around her and start crying silently. "It's alright, it's alright" They crouched down and Elena held his head pressed on her stomach. She was well aware that this was just a moment of weakness, she was trying to remind herself that he was not in love with her like he was back in her time. "I am sorry you have to go through this, I am so sorry"

"Why are you apologizing?" He asked slowly, hoping it would not break the fragile comfort. Elena smiled with the waves of deja vu. "Because you certainly deserve one" She smiled. She tried to see his face but she couldn't, she was only able to see his hair. "You said you love me, that you will explain everything to me. What does that mean?"

"Are you sure you want to hear it right now?" He sighed and nodded. He understood her concern but he needed truths. She looked up to the sky and smiled. "You must be wondering why I appeared out of blue and saved you" Klaus nodded and Elena sighed. "My name is Elena Gilbert and I am from thousand years later" He frowned, however she was not able to see. "I am from future you can say, and I know you from future"

"From thousand years forward? How could I even live for thousand years?" Elena smiled and looked up to the sky again. It was amazing and saddening to see him being that defenseless and naive. "You are immortal Nik, what your mother turned you in is something immortal. Your siblings are the original vampires but you are not like them. You are something way more special, you are the original hybrid. The only one of your kind, and yesterday your brother and your parents tried to take it away from you"

"Is that why you saved me? Because you knew me?" Elena sighed, yes it was one of the reasons but she decided to be a bit more open. "I saved you because I love you, and I did not want you to get consumed by a curse planted on you just because others' faults. You were going to spend thousand years to find all the ingredients and break the curse. I could
not let them"

Klaus frowned and looked at her this time as he sat right, they were closer than normal. "You say you love me, how close we were?"

"We were together, if that's what you ask. In a relationship, as a couple" He frowned and looked at her with confusion. He gulped then. "Were you my wife?" Elena held herself not to burst into laughter, she bit her lip and gulped, taking deep deep breaths. "No, we were dating"

"Dating, what does that mean?" Elena sighed with her own stupidity, of course he did not know what dating meant. She cleared her throat. "It is like, you were courting me, yeah, courting. Not married"

"Does that mean I was in love with you?" Elena paused for a second, she could feel that her cheeks were blushing. "Yes, we were in love with each other before I-" She couldn't really continue her words. She gulped and looked down, she did not want to say it. "Before you what?"

"Before I died" She quickly let it out. He looked at her with shock and a bit of, just a little bit of sadness. "Are you dead?" Elena shook her head. "I died back in my timeline and I woke up here right after I died"

"Did I kill you?" He asked with his lowest voice. Elena looked at him with wide open eyes and shook her head immediately. "No, no of course not! You would never hurt me" Klaus raised his head and looked at Elena who looked sad, sadder than before. His hand weirdly found her cheek and he sighed. "How did you die?"

Elena took a pause, it was hard to say. "I was killed by someone" His breath hitched for a second, he was trying to imagine how would it feel to lost his lover. It hurt him even without any memories or feelings about her. "By who?"

"We can talk about it later" She intended to stand up but Klaus stopped her. "I want to know everything, now. Because you are the only person who seems to tell me the truths about me"

"But the answer might hurt you, and you would not believe me"

"I do believe in whatever you have to say" Elena looked at him with sadness but with a bit of hope. She smiled sadly and held his hands inside of hers. "Your brother, Elijah, killed me" His eyes had never gotten that wide before, Elena could swear. He looked at her with shock and horror, yes this was horror in his face. "But why?"

"For revenge"

"Revenge for what?" Klaus asked, still not understanding why his brother would kill someone so precious for him. Elena gulped and shifted in her place. "For choosing you over him, for loving you instead of loving him" He paused, he took a long pause before talking again. "You died because of me"

"What's worth dying if not love?" He was silent after that, but he was sure about two things. One, he was going to leave this village and two, he was going to make sure that Elena was going to be right next to him as he left.
