"Come out, come out wherever you are, Evangeline," My trouble maker uncle taunts almost caused a chuckle and if I hadn't covered my mouth I would have given away my position. "Come on, Evangeline, I know you're out there." I waited for him to get closer before I made my presence known.
"Boo." I cried out from my hiding spot in the tree. I laughed so hard when I saw the way he jumped I almost fell out of the tree.
"That was not funny." He tries to be a responsible figure by scolding me, but I saw the smile creeping to his face. "Now get down from there, you know that tree isn't stable." Ever since I was little I was also worried that this tree would crash to the ground when a heavy wind storm hit.
"Relax, Kol. I am perfectly fine, see" I began to walk out further to the edge of the branch to the point I was over the cliff staring at the beautiful river underneath.
"Evangeline, get down now." I heard Kol's voice bounce off the trees but I laughed thinking it wasn't a big deal because we were vampires and stared to stare out at the view.
"It's beautiful out here." I sigh out in complete relaxation.
"Evangeline, do not make me get Uncle Elijah." I gulped in fear knowing the huge lecture I would get if he found out.
"Alright, I will get down." I tried to make my way down but when I took a step towards the tree I heard a snapping noise.
"Do not move, do you understand me." Kol's teasing turned into a very serious was.
"Kol I'm scared." I admit as my legs begin to shake.
"Relax, princess. Have I ever let you down." He gave a reassuring smile which eased my mind. "First things first I need you to put a protective bubble around yourself. You remember the spell I taught you correct?" I slowly nodded my head. "Ok good, and what's the first rule of using magic?"
"C-Concentration" I took a deep breath as I closed my eyes. "Bulla." I whispered out and when I opened my eyes again I could see the translucent bubble that formed around me
"Now on the count of three I want you to jump to me ok?" I quickly nodded my head. "One... two..." As Kol was about to say three the branch gave way. "Evangeline!" Kol's screams was the last thing as I began to free fall off the cliff.
"Ophelia." I woke up to Bonnie practically screaming in my ear as I was covered in a cold sweat. "You alright?" Bonnie asks me softly as she carefully moves the stray hair out of my face.
Y-yeah, I think so." I mumble quietly as I try to wipe away the bags under my eyes with the palm of my hand. "What happened?" I finally ask once I am able to process what state I'm in.
"You were having a really bad dream you started to scream so violently I thought your vocal cords would shred if I didn't wake you." Bonnie carefully explained "Do you want to talk about it?"
"N-no. It was just about the Mountain Lion attack." I lie to her easily. "I just need to take a shower to clear my head?" It took a little more convincing but she eventually let it go so I could finally take that shower. I finished the shower and was blow drying my hair when Bonnie entered her room again.
"Hey did you hear the news, they caught the Mountain lion." I let out a sigh of relief, but there was still a small pit in my stomach. I had a bad feeling that this wasn't the end of the story. I forced the pit away and carried on with getting ready for the day while being cautious that Bonnie doesn't see anything I'm not ready for her to.
"Thanks again for letting me borrow some of your clothes Bon" I call out towards the kitchen where she was making coffee to give me some privacy as I changed,
