25: Gone

The cat's name in this chapter is inspired by the song above, it is a beautiful song and I think it has some themes that fit this chapter. -A/N

You sat on the couch, curled up in Aizawa's lap like a cat, while the cat sat next to you both. You were both sitting in comfortable silence. Aizawa had fallen asleep and you were almost asleep too. You had been watching a movie and it was now late in the night. The cat climbed on top of your stomach and you began to stroke her sleepily. She purred softly, putting you to sleep.

You woke up with a blanket covering your body and the cat lying in a ball next to you. You were somewhat used to Aizawa disappearing early in the mornings. He always left you a note and some breakfast, just as he had this morning. You smiled at the still-warm pancakes on the bench. You sat down and your European Longhair, Puff (the cat) leapt up on the seat beside you. You pet her a gave her a piece of your pancake. "Don't tell Sho about this, it's you and I's little secret!" You whispered playfully to her, stroking her gorgeous striped fur. After breakfast you decided to do some cleaning and housework. Aizawa wouldn't be home until late, he was going to a staff meeting early, which is why he had left so early, he had school all day and then an evening patrol afterwards. You fell asleep around 4pm and were awoken by a phone call from an unknown caller an hour later.

"Is this Y/N L/N?"

"Yes?"

"I'm sorry to tell you this, but Shota Aizawa was killed during his evening patrol by a surprise villain attack."

You broke down crying at the news and Puff came over to try and figure out what was wrong. You scooped him up as he nudged your hand. You sobbed into his soft fur, hurt by the phone call, the news and so much more. You had lost the little support you had in your life and felt like all your walls were crumbling down. About 20 minutes later, you heard knocking at the door and went to answer it, still holding your sweet cat.

You opened the wooden door to see a very concerned Midnight and Present Mic. "We heard the news, are you ok?" Midnight asked cupping your face gently. You shook your head and let them inside, letting your cat leap down from your arms to greet the visitors. You walked over to the couch and curled up. Midnight and Mic came and sat down. "I'm so sorry Y/N, we know how much he meant to you and how much he had helped you." Mic apologised, rubbing your back.

Midnight and Mic ended up staying the night so they could take care of you. You decided you wanted to get out of town and that you would go visit Mila and Saki for a while. You packed enough clothes for two weeks and a few things for the cat. You walked down to the train station with your luggage and boarded the first train to Tokyo. You had already called them ahead of time, so they were waiting to pick you and Puff up. They smiled comfortingly at you as you walked out of the subway. You smiled back slightly and followed them over to the car.

"It's nice to see you again, I'm so sorry about your loss." Mila exclaimed, feeling bad for you. Saki was holding your cat, her ADHD causing her to zone out and play with the cat, who appreciated the attention. You nodded and smiled at the playful and happy mews from Puff. The drive back to the apartment was just as short as it always had been. Mila and Saki instantly took a liking to Puff. You could see why; she was a very polite, gentle and playful cat.
