[A/N: Youre gonna watch me make up a whole bunch of science words up because its a fanfiction and i can.]

Natasha led them through the halls, Eleanor looking around excitedly at all the scientific technology encasing her. They all entered a room with agents bustling around and speaking indistinctly.

Dr. Banner was obviously uncomfortable, doing his best to hide his face from the agents as if they all hadn't been forewarned of his presence, so Elain didn't want to bother him and left him on his own. Her hand has long since released Eleanor's, who had quickly peared over an agent's shoulder to see what they were working on, to quickly get shooed away.

In the middle of the room was Director Fury, who Eleanor still scowled at due to the whole tranquilizing situation, not that Fury seemed to give her any notice at all. Though, as soon as the girl got her eyes on one of the agent's screens, she was locked in, trying to get a peek at what they were doing.

Most of the people in that room were wearing the same ugly blue overcoat, and Elain couldn't help but wonder why they didn't use their massive government budget to buy themselves something with a bit more style. They all seemed to know their place, moving fluently like tides in the ocean. Hell, even Eleanor with her technological brain was able to find a way to navigate through the waves. Elain couldn't help but feel like a piece of driftwood disrupting everyone's flow, and looking over at Dr. Banner, she was glad she wasn't the only one.

"Engage retro-reflective panels." Came the voice of Maria Hill once Fury gave her the signal, and Eleanor almost lost her mind.

"I thought reflective panels were still years away," she whispered mostly to herself as she saw the agent she was hovering press a bunch of fancy buttons. "How did you eliminate the weight displacement for it to be able to hide a ship of this size? "

The poor agent she was speaking to seemed too scared to try an answer her, so he kept his eyes on the screen and his clammy hands on the keyboard. Elain patted her shoulder and motioned for her to walk over to where Fury was talking to the rest of the new 'recruits.'

"We're still not going to find him in time," Natasha said as she looked to a screen with what looked to be another agent on it. Her face displayed worry, but she wiped it away before anyone could get a good read on her. That's what good spies do, Elain presumed. Her mother was always really good at that when she was younger as well.

"Agent Romanoff, show Dr. Banner to the lab."

"Oh you're gonna love it doc, we got all the toys." Something in the way she talks just had Elain blush, even though the woman wasn't even addressing her. "What do you need from me Fury. You haven't given me any direction since we got here."

"You and I need to discuss what it is you are exacly."

"Ouch, and oddly phrased."

"Can I be there for that as well, as i am also curious for the answer." Eleanor chimed in.

Fury didn't need both eyes to portray the glare he shot at Eleanor when she said that, but either way he motioned for both of them to follow him into an office.

"I would tell you not to be intimidated by this conversation, but honestly you probably should be." Elain's clammy hands held onto the straps of her backpack for anxiety relief, as Fury looked for the questions to ask.

"I'll start it off easy. Are you from Earth?" Eleanor looked at Elain with the horrendous thought that her friend was possibly an alien, but Elain looked at them with disbelief.

"Yes, I'm from Earth! I am not an alien, nor am I villain with some tragic backstory." She thought on her words for a moment before deciding on the lie she would be telling from here on out. "Magic runs in my family. Generations dating back as far as we can remember. There are no others. . . it's just me now. The rest of my family was killed in a conflict." She ignored the look of sympathy on Eleanor's face, as it would only make her feel even more guilty for lying.

Though her parents did die in the war, so it wasn't too far off. "If there were no other magical beings, who was the war with?"

Elain tried to keep her face calm as she wracked her brain for an appropriate answer. "An uncle of mine. . . his name was Tom. He felt superior and wanted your kind to know that. So he proposed the idea to the rest of our family, and there was a split. The two sides fought and ultimately nobody won." Elain took a deep breath and tried to calm her nerves, hoping this wouldn't bite her in the arse later.

"What kind of things can you do?" Eleanor interrupted, but Fury allowed it considering he too wanted to know.

"Too much for me to try and name. Heal and Hurt. Fight and Protect. I'm considered a metamorphmagus so I'm a shapeshifter." She shook her head, causing her normal brown locks to turn pink. Eleanor's eyes went wide and she could tell if she was amazed or terrified.

"I'm here to help, not be a science project. So if we are done id like to go now, preferably somewhere i can be of service.
