Grey's Anatomy: What If (Lexie Grey)

Season 2 Episode 1

5 years later:

Alex left Jo for Izzie, Mark and Lexi broke up...again, Maggie and Richard have grown closer than ever after her adopted mother and father died. Jackson and April left to move to boston to take over the foundation. 

This is the story of Lexie Grey, Mark Sloan, Miranda Bailey, Jo Wilson, Callie Torres, Teddy Altman Richard Webber and a returning surprise character from the past. Most everyone else has either left the medical profession like Owen Hunt after the death of Amelia or have left the hospital to move on somewhere else where there wasn't the baggage of the trauma of Grey-Shephard Memorial. The interns returning that are now Residents include Brooke, Edwards, Schmit, and a few others.

"Cheif, you called for me?" Edwards asked approaching Teddy Altman.

"Yeah, I have questions about your latest discharge. Why in the hell would you think it would be okay to discharge Derick Hamper. He was literally just released from the ICU yesterday."

Edwards leaned over Teddy Altman to look at the chart.

"No, that's not right!" She began reading over the chart.

"Where is he now?" Edwards asked worriedly.

"The patient is dead Edwards. He suffered a heart attack in the parking lot. I want to know what went through your head to think this was okay!" Teddy asked again, her voice getting louder this time.

"Oh no, oh no! I got the charts mixed up!" She said. Edwards turned around and began running down the hallway. Teddy right on her heels.

"Their about to give Patrick Rigson a regime of medicine that will kill him!" Edwards screamed down the hallway.

Lexie Couldn't believe the age of her kids now. She couldn't wipe the smile off of her face as they played in the living room. She looked down at her phone to see a text from Mark. She ignored it. She was furious. It took her almost 5 years to find out Mark slept with an on call nurse in the on call rooms. She found out recently and she just needed space from her husband. Space from the endless drama that followed him.

Maggie and a group of other surgeons sat in the gallery watching Richard give his speech to the new round of interns. She absolutely loved the unchanging speech he gives every year. It for some reason grounds her and makes her thankful for what she has.

Callie sat in the ER filling out paper work. She looked up and noticed it was a slow day although she would never say that out loud in the ER because as soon as you acknowledge something like that out loud here all hell breaks loose.



"Another round?" Jo Wilson's one night stand asked.

"No I have to get ready for work, you need to leave" She said getting up and heading to the shower. She now lived alone in a nice comfortable home that she bought for her self. She wouldn't let what Alex did to her ruin her. She actually let it do the exact opposite. The love Alex gave her showed she was not only worthy of love but that she was worthy of more than what Alex could give her. Now when she thinks of Alex she isn't angry anymore. She notes to her self that, that is progress.
