lost in forever

chapter five

I had set my alarm for an earlier time this saturday but I forgot why. Being up this early on the morning reminded me of waking up super early to talk to River via Email. We would make plans for the day and then whenour parents woke up we'd tell themall about it and they never could figure us out they started calling us 'the twins'. Man I missed River.

"Raine hon why are you up so early?" My mum called "Are you okay?" I was about to shout my reply when my mum opened the door. "You're not sitting up thinking about him again." She asked. My mum hated it when I wasted time thinking about River. "You have to except the fact that he is dead he's dead Raine he's not out there he's not lokking for you and you shouldn't be looking for HIM." I was furious. "How do you know that he's dead are you hiding something from me did you kill im did you see him kill himself come on mum you know so much I hate it when you talk like that what are you trying to take away every part of him thats left for me to see..for me to know?" my face was a firey red now and my hands were balled into fists. "What do you want from me mum?" I asked. "I want a normal daughter like kelly one who's sensible one who can except reality i don't want anything from you." I wanted to cry but I held back my tears. "Yeah and I want a normal mum one who can understand when her child needs help not critism one who knows how to raise a child you say im not normal but look who raised me you are nothing but a freaking idiot get away."

I pointed for the door intending for her to leave. Once she did I  bawled my eyes out. But silently so that she wouldn't hear me. I looked at my picture of River and talked to him well the eight year old him anyways.

"She hates me." I said "She doesn't understand me." tears fell from my face as I stared at the picture "Come back River." I beeged "Id give the whole world for you to come back."

I turned the picture face down on the dresser and marched down the stairs."Up and at em' Raine?" My dad asked "Yup you don't have work today do you?" "Nope why?" "No reason you making coffe?" "yup why?" "can I have some?" "Nope I told you coffee would stunt your growth sweet pea." He answered "Dad im five foot five inches I deserve coffee." He kissed my forehead "Thats short sweet pea try ask again when youre five foot nine then we can talk." I smiled. "Come on dad..." I said. "Nice try but, no." I gave him puppy dog eyes and he poured me a small glass of coffee. 

"I heard you and your mum arguing again." He said taking a sip from my glass "What was that all about?" "River." I mumbled regretfully. "She expects me to forget about River and just move on with my life but I can't do that...He was my best friend he meant alot to me." My dad smiled sadly. "You know I kind of understand where she's coming from sweet pea it's like since River's been gone you lost all connections to the social world she's afraid your relationship with River was unhealthy and that you'll never let go of that unhealthy relationship."

"Our relationship wasn't unhealthy." I said "We were best friends dad i would've and still would give anything for him dad and vice versa. And I can't just believe that he's dead something happened dad somebody kidnapped River and for a REASON eight year old kids don't just run away and die in the wilderness and how would you all know?" I asked "Mum convinced Ms.Bird not to file a missing report for river KNOWING ms.Bird couldn't make a decision on her own at the time she was too hurt traumatized and mum didn't think far enough to realize he wouldn't just run away he was happy for goodness sake." I felt like crying all over again while dad hugged me.

I sat talking with dad until the phone rang. I ran to pick it up. "Hello?" I answered. "Hey it's Hunter."  "Oh hey Hunter what's up?" "I was wondering- well i wanted to know if...?" "if?" I questioned "If you still wanted to meet up at Randal's this afternoon." "Of course." I said "Why wouldn't I?" I asked "Well I kinda realized that Saturday is a really bad day for a date I mean I don't have plans but I wasn't sure if you had plans or not." I smiled. "Oh no its cool Im actually not very uh social so saturday is perfect." I said he didn't say anything so I added "I'll see you at Randal's four o'clock as planned right?" "Right." He said. and then we said goosby and hing up

....

At three thirty I got in My dads car and started towards Randal's. For some reason I had butterflies in my stomach and I had a good mind not to call kelly A.K.A  the queen of dates on this one. I probably looked like a clown by now every time i checked in the rearview mirror I felt the urge to touch up my makeup.

When I finally made it to Randal's Hunter was waiting for me in the parking lot. "Hey." He said pulling me into a brief hug.Somehow it felt right but if any other gu besides my dad had hugged me like that id most likley end up kicking them where it hurt. "Hey yourself." I answered for some weird reason my voice was sort of high pitched and I was blushing as we walked into the resturant.

"Hi what can i get you two?" The girl asked. Probably surprised that two teenaged kids just walked into a resturant as expensive as Randal's. I couldn't blame her, My family wasn't exactly loaded but my mom was a doctor my dad owned one of England's best law firms we were pretty well off.

"We were actually picking up lunch..." i said trying to be as polite as possible. "Oh sorry but you know I never see kids my own age at Randal's unless they're with their parents." Hunter smiled. "I could imagine that it's a nice resturant." "well if the cute couple will follow me to their table." I blushed "We're not exactly a...couple." I responded as we followed behind her. "Really Why not?" she asked I was silent for a moment thinking of what to say. "Oh sorry im so nosy I need to work on that," "We kind of just met." Hunter said. "huh?" the lady asked. "Raine and i just met a few days ago when I moved here from America." "Oh." she said showing us a table. We sat down. "Well Mkenzie will be serving you all today and she's coming now so I better go." 

We were silent as she made her way back to the desk she was sitting at before. "I think she just called us both cute." Hunter mumbled breaking the silence. "Why d'you say that?" I asked "Well she said were a cute couple but like you said we aren't exactly a couple which would just make us cute." he said  I chuckled "I suppose so." I said. I took a moment to survey him. It was pretty windy but he had on a fitted t-shirt showing off his abs and a pair of black jeans much like the ones I had on but the male version.His skin was quite tanned which was typical seeing he was from America and it wasn't nearly as cold in America as it was in England. 

His eyes were hazel with A  thousand tiny green flecks and his lips weren't not kissable...Okay they were kissable. 

"Not looking to bad yourself Raine." He chuckled and i realized that I was staring at him. "Now what would you like to have for lunch?" He picked up his menu but I didn't. I already knew everything on the Randal's menu from when River and I used to come on our birthdays as kids. Their menu never changed. "Not going to look?" He asked "I know whats on there." I said it hasn't changed since I was a kid. He smiled "And you still agreed to come with me?" "I like the fact that it stays the same when everything else about my life changes constantly." I said

"So what do you suggest." "well like I told you before Randal's has litteraly got the best steak in england and I like the salad but you'll probably perfer russet potatoes and spinach with yours." I said. "You really know the whole thing don't you?' he asked."I wouldn't tell you a lie." I said laughing.

when the waitress came Hunter put in our order and we talked over the appatizer until she came with the food then we started going into the details I left talk about River at a minimum I didn't want to bawl my eyes out for a third time that day and pretty soon it got late.

"Do you want to get desert or go?" he asked "They have a mean cheese cake." I answered "But I would like it to go I want to show you the park."

"Okay." he said and called the waitress over. "Could we get two cheescakes?" he asked "choclate icecream." I put in then I turned to Hunter "All their deserts come with vanilla icecream but they let you change it if you like." He smiled. "You know thats neat." He said after studying me a while. "what's neat?" I asked "That you're so sure of yourself." he said "That even though theres so many things in your life that aren't solid you're solid in and of yourself." This time I smiled "You're sweet." I said as the waiter came with the cheescakes and someone was with her...

darn I haven't updated in a long while hopefully you guys are still reading and enjoying this story... so who do you think was with the waitress when she came? do you think Raine will be happy about seeing them alrighty  make sure you comment...vote...and follow if you haven't already
