Almost every night since our first encounter, Fred and I have been meeting at the Astronomy tower. Talking and spending time with each other until we were half asleep and I would have to be carried back. The weather got colder as the end of October approached us, and more of Fred's clothes found their way into my wardrobe. Yet still, no one besides Fred and Lee knew a thing.
We would meet in the back of the library to study.
Make eyes at each other from across our classes.
He would go to the greatest lengths to ensure that I'd see him in some way. So not only did the sight of him enter my gaze now and then, but he also invaded my mind.
"The Gryffindors think they should host this years Halloween party." Daphne's high pitched voice pulls me out of my thoughts as she enters the common room.
"What?" Draco asks, a somewhat aggressive tone present in his voice.
Our group sits around the blazing green fire, watching Daphne storm over and slam her books onto a metal coffee table.
"Yeah. I was with my sister in the library and we overheard a few Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs talking about how big its going to be." Daphne mumbles as she takes a seat next to me.
"How dare they!" Theo states angrily "Hasn't Halloween always been run by the Slytherins? Its our holiday."
"Bet its those bloody Weasley's." Pansy spits as she pulls her arms to her chest. "Their whole lot is messed."
Their voices become murmurs as my thoughts trail off, only catching little snippets of;
"Maybe we should teach them a lesson."
"What if we counter their party with our own?"
"Filthy blood-traitors clearly don't know how we do things."
I always hear them say things like this about the Gryffindors, hell even my family says these things. But after learning more about Fred the words possess a different meaning, and I don't want to hear him talked about like that.
"What if. . ." I blurt out, the chattering from our circle diminishing as all heads turn to me. "What if we just. . . went to the Gryffindors party?"
"Are you mad?" Draco screeches as silence overtakes the room. Other students taking that as their cue to leave, our group being the only people left in the dark common room. The green fire lights up the pitch black room and adds a green hue onto my friends expressions, only crackling from the flame being heard as all sea creatures from outside the windows have decided to exit as well.
Everyone's eyebrows furrowed together in confusion, wondering why I would want to go to a party thrown by blood-traitors and the other sorts, everyone except for Millicent.
"Now hang on." she says turning to face me "Maybe Sam has a point."
"What point might that be Bulstrode?" says Theo, still annoyed with the current events.
"Well if we go to their party then you guys wouldn't have to take care of everything." she replies in a calm tone.
"Oh yeah." Blaise interjects from his place on a leather armchair "We wouldn't have to supply drinks, or decorations, or food. We would just. . . be there."
"Wait you guys are actually considering this?" Theo spits, standing now.
"Well what are we supposed to do Nott, Daphne said it herself. Everyone will already be over there." I pipe up, trying to get him to understand.
His nostril flare as his chest rises and falls heavily with each breathe. His hands form fists by his sides as he towers over our sitting figures. "Fine!" Theo blurts out, startling everyone. "While you guys are all over there, conversing with- with blood traitors and mudbloods getting yourselves all dirty and- and contaminated I'll be over here throwing a party of my own." and with one final 'huff' he's storming up the stairs to his dorm.
