Anidita -Losing it all

It was already half past 2 when the convoy reached its destination. All the students received a warm welcome from the hosts. They were treated with a scrumptious lunch followed by an interesting tour of the demonstration of how the steam engines and the passenger coaches were constructed back then. The whole day was eventful and really informative. Even the British official shared some insights of how the internal operations are carried out in England and how is it different from the protocols followed in India. 

All the students except Bondita had a gala time and the trip proved to be very productive for them whereas for her, it seemed like the worst decision she had ever taken or rather the only decision she had taken against Anirudh and it was dawning upon her miserably. Not even Arindam was able to get her to talk like her usual self, let alone cheer her up and Batuk was no good either. 

After the group came back from their outing, they were made to stay in the rooms at the British official's bungalow. Everything was neatly arranged according to English standards and the students were supposed to share the room on twin basis, i.e. 2 students in 1 room except for Bondita as she was the only female ward among the lot and hence was given a separate room to help herself and her needs.

"Batuk, esa bhi kya hua hai Bondita ko mene pehle use iss tarah se bartav karte nahi dekha" Arindam asked after changing into his night dress.

"iss baar dada is ladayi hui hai na or esa kabhi bhi nahi hua ki boudi dada se itni der tak dur rahe vo bhi dusri jagah or vo bhi ladayi ke turant baad" he replied while changing.

"Par jab Bondita apni maa ke yaha jati hogi tab toh alag rehna hi padta hoga na" Arindam exclaimed, curiosity was evident in his tone.

"dada bhi sath jate hai Boudi ke or sath me hi lekar aate hain unhe or agar kabi boudi ko zyada din rukna hota hai toh dada bhi vahin rukte hain, up-down karte hain kaam ke silsiley me Devipuri se hi par boudi ko akele nai rehne dete vaha" he responded casually as it was just like a daily affair for him, his dada being over protective of his boudi.

"par tumne toh bataya tha ki tumhare dada or Bondita ka vivah sirf ek samajik vivah tha, matlab sirf naam ke liye. Tumhare dada ne apne mann se unse shaadi nahi ki thi or Bondita sirf unki ek zimmedari hai or kuch nahi, fir itni zyada chinta hona or dhyaan rakhna toh swabhaavik nahi hai" Arindam put his point forward a bit confused by what he was told earlier and what he just got to know.

"haan Arindam, vivah toh sirf Bondita ki jaan bachane ke liye hi kiya tha par ab dada ke liye koi usse pehle nahi aata, vo khud bhi nahi. Unke dimag me sirf Bondita hi rehti hai hamesha. Vese toh kaka hi sabse zyada pyar karte hain boudi ko par unse bhi zyada pyar koi karta hai unhe toh vo hain dada, aaj tak esi koi cheez nahi hai jo boudi ke muh se nikli ho or dada ne puri na ki ho. Pata hai Bondita ki aankh me ek aansu aata hai toh dada duniya idhar ki udhar kar dete hain. Pehle mujhe ye sab dekh ke boht jalan hoti thi kyuki dada ka dhyan mujhse bilkul hi hat gya tha par jab mai unhe Bondita ke sath dekhta hu na toh unke chehre ki hasi sab keh deti hai. Unko aadat ho gyi hai uski chinta karne ki, dada din me agar 10 bar Bondita ka naam na lele toh unka din hi pura nahi hota. Sach bolu toh itna khush or santusht mene dada ko kabhi nahi dekha islye hi toh saare nakhre uthate hain hum or pura parivaar Bondita ke. Hum soch bhi nai sakte ki Bondita kabi unse dur hui toh unka kya hoga....or jab unhe pata chalega ki boudi ghar par nahi hai or mere sath aai hai toh gharwalo ka kya hoga......" he concluded with a tensed expression and a sigh.
