When Jim first used the time stone and gave Toby the amulet for the first time everything started out great!
Strickler didn't find out that Toby was the trollhunter so didn't try to kill him, and Jim had set his mom and Strickler up so they'd get together. He talked to Claire and the play went well.
But then...
The fight with Bular happens.
When Toby lost the spar to Draal he didn't ask him for a rematch. So he didn't win the match and over Draal. So he wasn't there to help the fight against Bular without that the extra edge Draal gave that they desperately needed they failed against Bular. In his last moments Jim grabbed the amulet pulled it out ,to everyone's shock, and opened it up to reveal the time stone. He grabbed it with the hand that wasn't burnt and broken in 5 different places and channelled something he didn't know he had and suddenly he was back in his room. His skin had no scars but his mind knew one's so much worse. He would discover in route 23 why he was able to summon the time stone. Because it wasn't there before. Not when Toby opened it as the trollhunter nor when Claire did so as the trollhunter nor Blinky,Aaarrrghh,mom,Strickler, he'd even made Steve trollhunter once! But ut had never shown the stone to them only him.
Sorry for the short chapter I just got sick and want to rest but also wanted to give you guys a chapter.
