Her right hand was gently clasped within his own, gaze locked against his violet eyes. He was shifting his hand upwards, prepared to tug free and no doubt on the verge of removing both contacts that hid his Geass. Ah. As the hero of this age, of course she was the primary target. Even now she could hear the sounds of her squadron reporting on soldiers, workers, and civilians engaging in abnormal behavior. Their cries meant nothing to her though. No one inside the ballroom could hear the sounds of gunshots and swordplay over the orchestra. Within the crowd, he could simply make her submit and no one would know.

But instead, she spoke softly, in a way she knew only he would hear. "My Dear, Lelouch. We meet again."

He smiled. Violet eyes glinting with mischief but never leaving hers. They revealed nothing. "We do."

He was waiting for her next words as their feet glided along the dance floor. She lowered her eyes to hide her happiness. Of course, he knew they would meet. He planned on it. But this would not be a submission. She would swear her loyalty this day and was prepared by every right to be his equal. After all, he wasn't the only one who had set the stage this day. No longer did she desire to claim the title of hero from the filth of this world. She rose her head to meet his stare.

"I would have never betrayed you as everyone before me did."

For just a moment, his expression shifted to shock before returning to a cool stare. "Betrayal?" A tone of indifference.

"Let us speak swiftly, as this dance draws to a close. I have no intention of being a mere pawn to them or to you."

"Ha. Hahaha!" He was laughing. Laughing! The echo of it pounded against her eardrums, mingling with the music. That laugh had become her addiction. It was filled with intelligence, plots, and hardship. Bitter. But sweet. She wanted more. More than their typical battle filled violence. She knew even the steps within their waltz could become part of his plan if it was what he desired. What was she kidding? The dance was part his plan. Even so, she was never thrown off balance. She would not waver.

"Lelouch. This shall be our last dance as enemies. Afterwards, I will be your sword. I will be your shield and I will never, ever betray you."

"You must be prepared to accept responsibility for those words," he huffed as if her words were the claim of a child.

She saw his eyes slide left then, a moment of a panic that only she could see. Another flicker, to their close right before his eyes met hers again. He was running out of time. The sounds of confusion in her communication sphere were shifting from terror to order.

He smirked, regaining composure, and leaned close to her ear, deciding then and there to take a more confident approach. His hand on her lower back pulled her closer, "And if I tell you to kill every one in this ballroom?"

She smiled. "Then I would make sure not to kill your two associates on our right and our left."

A grit of his teeth.

 She was winning.

                            -"Commander, we've found them!'"

"I'm listening."

She stopped her breath from catching as one thought sang through her mind. Over and over. For that half a second.

Finally. I've caught you. Lelouch.

36:51 [This is the next song~ Just wait for the music.]

 A glare.

She tilted her head to the side innocently, the smile never leaving her face. Ah. That look! It was truly unhindered by his normally concealed emotions or those damned masks that he loved to wear. It was a look that said she knew too much. It told her that she should be erased, killed, or controlled. He was caught.

 Ah. She had caught him.

His palm moved swiftly, so used to the action of revealing his Geass that it took only an instant. She kissed him then. It was not that she feared he would truly order her to kill the very people she had been giving her life for.. She was willing. No, she feared that he would think her only desire was to earn his trust.

No. She wanted more. More.

So, she let herself indulge in this moment. She let herself indulge until the blush that formed upon his face radiated heat. So skilled was he that they never even missed a step in their dance. The soft sound of singing guided them through the second song. She had him. With a small laugh she took the lead, moving her left hand from his hip to wrap it further around his waist. As they continued to move, she reached up a hand and removed her own contacts. With two eyes of Geass she burned her gaze against his own.

"Lelouch vi Britannia, the only order I won't follow is to let you die."

She saw his breath catch just as the song reached its high.

Her tongue slid across her top lip of it's own accord and she couldn't help but tease the man in front of her. "After all, what's the use of a hero if everyone but you is the villain."

She was the lead now, guiding their steps to the hidden door. Her soldiers would be closing in any minute now. No one could see this part of Lelouch but her. This unkempt, confused Lelouch- stripped of his mask and ill-prepared. The tempo of the music picked up pace as he took control and spun her into a turn that left her eyes directly in view of his own. Yes, this was it. He would be hers. Only a man able to regain his composure in an instant like this. He knew exactly where she had been leading him.

She spoke. "My loyalty is yours. And yours mine. You were right all along."

He slipped into the hidden corridor.

"Ha. ha.. ha.. " She smiled,. raising her eyes to meet the overwhelming shine of the chandelier, completely still within the room full of fluttering fabric.

And so my heroic endeavors come to an end.
