You drop your hands away from holding your head and your head slams into your wooden desk. "Ugh, why does this have to be so hard?" You moan. "Why does what have to be so hard?" Kili asks. You lift your head and see him standing in the door way. "Math." You say, gesturing to your math book. "I seriously want to throw this book out the window and just be rid of it." You hiss. "Whoa, whoa." Kili says, walking into your bedroom. "Is there anything I can help with?" He asks. "I hope so." You sigh. He pulls up a chair next to yours and sits down. He puts his hands on his knees and leans over your desk. "What have we got here..." He murmurs, his eyes scanning the book. You watch him as he assesses the lesson. "Oh, Y/N, this is actually fairly easy. This book just explains it a little more confusingly than it actually is." Kili states, looking at you, a smile on his face. "Really?" You ask, hopefully. He grins. "Can I have your pencil?" He asks. You hand it over to him and he grabs a piece of paper. "Watch me carefully. I'll explain what I'm doing as I work the problem." He says, as he starts solving the problem. "Okay, so then this 2 goes up here and then we divide this fraction." He explains, a minute later. "And the problem is solved." He states, looking at you and laying the pencil on your book. You stare at him in wonder. "How come you never told me you were this good at math?" You ask, your mouth slipping open. He smiles and gently nudges your elbow with his. "Because, it wasn't really a big deal." Kili says. "But it is a big deal. For me it is. I'm terrible at math and here you, my best friend, have never once told me you are a math genius." You say, shaking your head. He grins. "Want me to help you with the rest?" He asks. You sigh in relief. "Yes, yes, please." You say
An hour later, you slide your math book onto your bookshelf. "Kili, a thousand thank yous over and over and over again." You say, turning to him. You walk up to him and wrap your arms around his neck. "You're welcome." He replies, hugging you. "I can't wait to show it to my instructor tomorrow." You state. Kili chuckles. "I'm so proud of you. You worked the last fifteen problems on your own with no mistakes. It's impressive." He says. You pull back to look at him, a smile playing at your lips. "I had a good teacher." You say. Kili grins. "Did you now?" He laughs. "I did." You laugh. "You didn't get mad at me if I messed up. You were patient, gentle, and you gave me wonderful advice. How could you not be great? You relieved all of my stress and aggravation." You say. He smiles and you flush slightly. You look to the ground and Kili puts his finger under your chin and tips your face up. He stares into your eyes deeply. "That was my intention the whole time. To make you less stressed and aggravated..." He whispers. He lowers his head down and kisses you softly. Your eyes flutter closed and you lean against him, wrapping your arms around him. A long moment passes and you pull back an inch. "Well...it worked." You whisper against his lips. He smiles and leans his forehead against yours. He stares into your eyes. "Good." He murmurs, just before he kisses you again.
