the city was crumbling to ashes.

bombs were exploding everywhere and guns were fired every second, making tall buildings burn down and people beg for help, there were no right ones, just two different groups fighting for what they thought was right in a world with no rules.

in a situation like this you had no allies, when it is about survival, you choose your side and do your best not to die, even if that means betraying your friends, your family.

but that's not the case right now, this story is about a couple with unfortunate luck and too little time.

the world was ending around them and it was a matter of time till destruction got to them.

"I-I'm so sorry Newt"

tears spilled from their eyes, falling like waterfalls

Thomas lied there in Newt's arms, a bullet wound was located in his abdomen, a pool of blood was forming under the brunette, staining the pavement with dark red liquid.

"Why are you sorry T-Tommy? You have nothing to be s-sorry about"

the blonde clinged to the almost lifeless body that lied in his arms, his eyes burned with new tears and his throat hurt with the urge to let sobs escape through his pretty lips.

he had to bring his Tommy to a safe place where he could treat his injury, he had to save Thomas so they could live their dream, together.

"I'm sorry b-becaus I know you wanted to g-go first, I b-broke my promise"

the pale boy closed his eyes tight, pushing his head further into the blonde's neck as his weak body shook.

he felt dizzy, at this point he knew there was no way he would make it.

Thomas knew how Newt felt about losing him, the blonde expressed that fear many times after the few deaths that happened throughout the year they spent together.

they've seen many horrible things, and Newt made the brunette promise to not die before he did.

"oh Tommy..."

Newt closed his eyes now, leaning down and conecting their foreheads together.

neither of them cared about the infinite tears that were wetting their skin and clothes, nor did they care about the growing pool of blood on the ground, nor the fact that the world was literally ending around them.

seconds felt like hours as they stayed there, silent goodbyes being shared.

there was so much to say in so little time.

so many things, many plans and dreams they hoped to share were now being destroyed.

it pained the blonde to see the life quickly disappear from the once happy and full of energy brown ones.

he wished it was him there dying.

Tommy deserved to live more than he did, in his head.

"live for the two of us, okay blondie? I love you Newt."

Thomas's weak voice was the only thing Newt could hear in the middle of the whole mess of bombs and guns.

death came and blew Thomas's light, the last breath.

"I love you too Tommy"

Newt didn't try to stop the sobs this time, hugging the now lifeless body tight.

he felt like he was going to explode.

And then, for the last time, he traced the moles brunette's face one by one, memorizing the details of the face he loved so much.

not all stories have happy endings but Newt wished theirs did.

getting up was a hard task for the blonde.

the soft breeze hit Thomas's fluffy dark hair, tear stains decorated pale cheeks and his slightly parted eyes stared into the endless sky.

leaving his lover's body there as he went somewhere safe was the third hardest thing Newt had ever done in his life.

the second was jumping off the maze walls, hoping to die years before all of that.

and the first was watching Thomas die.

not all stories have happy endings but deep down, everyone wished Newt and Thomas's one did.
