Everyday should be mental health awareness, It never hurts to ask what someone's feeling if they say scared, try understand why. Try to keep an open mind if they are acting different and its seems petty, there might be other things going on. It might be harder for them to deal with all the overwhelming things in a place where it's never easy to open up with out being judged.
Some days it can be harder for things to sink in, people don't just go numb with out thinking with feelings possibly some may go numb of thoughts too...Say for instance zoning out or they just can't seem to understand what is told to them they aren't being rude they just can't physically think straight. Either there's too many thoughts so they maybe zone out or maybe have what we call brain farts. Sometimes it can be quiet to the point everything is blocked out...Not everyone has control of when this happens. Please be patient and remember they drown from emotions or thoughts on a constant basis and they zone out cause its a quiet place....Like I said it most likely isn't done on purpose but I'm sure to others on the outside it is....lets just say the brain has decided to pack its bags for a while.
There maybe other things you notice like they can't speak right or stutter maybe muddle their words. For those that the anxiety has got to this stage it can be very frustrating as they know they should be able to say the words they know well...But its like their tongue gets caught in invisible gears. It's a point they are so overwhelmed they can't possibly think.
I know its hard especially on a constant basis but please be patient its harder than they can say I'm sure.
