That's when it all started.

I woke up muscles aching, covered in dirt, and completely and utterly lost. Not that I had anywhere to be found anyway. I figured it wouldn't hurt if I laid there for a few more moments. I listened to the soft breeze brushing through and rustling the leaves, the soft chugging of the faraway train, and the soft crashing of a nearby waterfall.

For the first time in 3 years, I felt relaxed. I felt like I had no more responsibility. No more running. Maybe I could live my life here. No more work, no more having to worry about what my parents left me with. No more "Aster! Come clean this table or you're fired!!!" Maybe I could be at peace at last.

My train of thought was interrupted by the sounds of heavy footsteps crunching the fallen leaves. I quickly stumbled to my feet and felt the exhaustion from running in my muscles. I felt heavy and accepted my fate of what I thought was death. I couldn't have been further than wrong.

A tall woman with dark skin and beautiful midnight curls emerged from the bushes. She was breathing heavily and her cheeks slightly flushed from the running she just did. She looked over at me and hastily ripped a knife out of her pocket and pointed at me. I looked at her with big eyes and held my hands up showing I was unarmed and harmless. Her deep brown eyes quickly softened as she cautiously made her way over to me to ensure I wouldn't attack with her back turned. I just laid there staring at the sky thinking over every possible outcome for what is about to happen.

As she approached me I considered running, I didn't know this person so why the fuck should I trust her? She could be one of them and try to turn me to their side. "P-please leave me alone. I don't want to join your stupid rebellion" I struggled whilst shuffling back into the trunk of the tree I was resting against.

She giggled softly and put away her knife elegantly crouching in front of me. "I'm not one of them darling, don't worry" She smiled softly, ensuring that I was safe with her.
I looked at her features closely, she had a small button nose, big doe eyes, and a soft jawline. Honestly, she was beautiful. Probably the prettiest being I had ever laid my eyes on. Even though I didn't know her, I felt safe. The safest I had ever felt and I loved it. So I let my exhaustion take over my weakened body.
