S I X T E E N ( A short fiction story )Written by: PurePearlXXVII
Have you ever wonder what is running on a sixteen-year-old's mind? Have you ever asked yourself, do teenagers know how reality works? Have you ever ask a sixteen-year-old if he/she is just fine?
Every adult must think that we teenagers do not know the real world, the real pain, the real suffering, as we still haven't known what it felt like to work our ass off but little do they know...we know more and we experience more what reality is than what they think. We just don't speak of it...
"Hi, Selina!" Leo greeted when he entered the classroom. It is very early in the morning, the sun hasn't still risen yet but we are both here at school already. We always go to school early because we both enjoy the peace it brings. This room will be filled with famous and cool kids as a class starts, so Leo and I decided to always go to school early so that at least for a while, we know what it's like to be a student here at Aihpos University. You see, famous and cool students give students like Leo and me some power. They give us the power of invisibility and the power of knowing what you are worth.
"What are you writing?" Leo asked when he sat beside me. I half smiled then immediately closed my diary. Yes, there is still someone who uses diaries despite the advanced technology we have in this generation.
"Nothing" I answered.
"You do know that "Nothing" means "Something" right?" he told.
"Yeah right. Enough of that, let's have breakfast it's my treat" A laughter escaped my lips when I saw his hilarious expression. I would want to take a picture of this as a memory but I prefer to just cherish it at the moment. Pictures hold memories, and it's true they last like forever, but for me, cherishing it at the moment and not taking a picture of it lasts more than forever.
"You really mean that?" Leo asked, still with his shocked Pikachu face.
"Of course I mean it. What do you take me for? A scammer?" his eyes narrowed, still suspicious. He puts his hand on my forehead and my neck like he was checking my temperature or something.
"Whatever Leo. Let's go now before I change my mind about treating you breakfast" quickly he stood and followed me.
Leo and I both enjoyed breakfast filled with jokes, laughs, and smiles. I even took a picture of us using his phone even though I do not like getting a picture. Today is an exception so it's fine because today is a good day...
When we finished having breakfast we made our way back to school, and as usual, there go the cool kids. I breathed in to calm prepare myself before getting inside the classroom.
"Hey, Selina what's up fat girl"
"Leo! Did you wash your face? You look like you haven't bathed for years with those pimples"
"Do you want a burger, Selina? I took it from the trash though, but it's still a burger. You will eat this right?"
"The Duo Trash is here huh"
"You two looked good together. Both a trash"
While walking to my seat, my head is down. I haven't look at them in the eye afraid that I would cry. Not like any other students, that is greeted with "Good Morning" or just a simple "Hey" Leo and I are always greeted like that every day here in school. Even our professors whom we thought would help us stop the bullying join when they enter our classroom.
I bit my lower lip to suppress my tears.
Don't cry, Don't cry, Don't cry, Don't cry. Shhh, everything is fine Selina... everything is fine...
