“In the past, my life was full of toxic people that I would potentially take a bullet for, but every little effort I put in was worthless in their eyes. I have learned that toxic people like to cling to those with low self-esteem and at the time I was that person. How could I appreciate myself when it was hard for me to stand up for myself? I constantly second-guessed walking away from these negative relationships, not knowing if I was the problem or if they were the problem. This is the supreme situation for the toxic people in our lives because they know a person lacking self-esteem, as I was, will keep coming back for more pain to be endured. The toxic person takes these kinds of scenarios with the low self-esteemed person to swell their ego and kill them esteem of others, a complete parasitic relationship."
