Severa's ears sprouted from her head, turning her brown hair silver and her brown eyes blue, her tail swishing back and forth with anticipation. The wolf crept up to the closed door and placed her claws on the doorknob. Turning it, Severa entered the room. Inside, a candle-lit chandelier hung from the ceiling. Below it was a table with a tower of dull, multicolored books. The mercenary looked to her side and saw shelves and stacks of books, all different colors, and sizes.

"Guess this is the library." Severa whispered to herself.

Looking ahead, the wolf saw the man she had been following. The candle he once had in his hand was now on a desk in front of him and was replaced with a book. Severa's tail swished back and forth in anticipation.

"So, you've come at last," said the man, turning in Severa's direction, "Welcome."

Severa growled and sprinted up to the vampire, raising her claws to bring them down on her foe. She was then stopped by a strange force. The wolf strained and struggled against the force, but she couldn't move at all.

"Release me!" Severa cried.

"Or what?" the man asked.

The man finally revealed himself and Severa's blue eyes widened. The man had long, black hair, pale skin, and crimson red eyes. He wore a black and red suit with a black trench coat draped over his shoulders.

"A werewolf?" the man wondered out loud, "Now, how did a beauty like you sneak into my kingdom?"

"Your kingdom?" Severa parroted.

Realization dawned on the young mercenary.

"You're the Prince of Caldore!" Severa gasped.

"Diaval Naesala," the vampire said, "At your service."

Severa growled and tried to move, but whatever was holding her in place wasn't letting her go.

"Let go of me!" Severa growled.

"Why, so you could kill me for your alpha?" Diaval asked.

Severa scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"I serve no alpha but God." Severa said.

"A loner, then. What are you, some type of mercenary?" Diaval asked.

Severa's eyes widened.

"How did you...?" Severa mumbled.

Diaval just grinned and continued to admire his prey.

"Hmm, I guess you will do." Diaval said.

The prince snapped his fingers and released Severa from his charm. Severa groaned and glared at the vampire prince.

"Well, if your mission was to kill me, go right ahead." Diaval said, spreading his arms out.

Severa looked at the prince with a confused look. The mercenary shrugged off the thought with a growl. She extended her claws and brought them down against Diaval. Her claws were then blown back by some sort of shield or force. Severa looked up at the grinning vampire and growled.

"What's the matter, wolfy?" Diaval asked, "Bat got your tongue?"

Severa bared her fangs and slammed her fist against the vampire's chest, only to have her fist bounce off him.

"What kind of sick joke is this!?" Severa asked angrily.

"No joke, just a special little charm I cast on you the minute you stepped foot in my castle." Diaval explained nonchalantly.

Severa looked at him as if he grew three heads.

"Charm?" Severa parroted.

"What, you didn't think that it was suspicious that there were no guards posted by an open castle gate?" Diaval questioned, "And why weren't there any guards inside the castle when you entered? Have you ever thought about that?"

Severa paused to think.

"I-I didn't..." Severa mumbled.

"As I thought. You werewolves aren't that bright anyway." Diaval said, opening his book again.

Severa growled and glared daggers at the vampire prince.

"Why can't I harm you? What kind of charm did you put on me?" Severa asked.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. One question at a time, wolfy." Diaval said.

Severa growled and bared her fangs.

"Don't call me that..." she growled.

Diaval chuckled and set down his book. Severa looked down and saw that he was reading the Bible.

"Never thought I'd see the day where I'd meet a vampire who reads the Bible." Severa said.

"Even the demons knew who Jesus was, and they didn't dare to test Him." Diaval said.

Diaval slipped a hand down his neck and lifted a golden cross chain with diamonds engraved in it. Severa scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"So, you want to know why you can't harm me, right?" Diaval asked, "Well, I'll humor your pretty little head since this situation involves me as well."

Diaval pulled a chair towards him and down.

"Take a seat." Diaval told Severa.

Severa glared at the dark prince and sat down in the chair behind her.

"First, do you mind telling me your name?" Diaval asked, "I don't think it's fair that you know me, and I don't know you."

"Huntress. Nothing more, nothing less..." Severa growled.
