Severa scoffed and walked ahead of the prince and out of the castle gate. The dark prince chuckled and followed the young wolf. The mercenary admired the little town and its people, questioning the many things that they did and said.

"Nothing like the forest." Severa mumbled.

"I would assume not." Diaval said, walking up to her.

Severa sighed and placed her hands behind her head and leaned on her leg.

"At least try to act dignified." Diaval scolded.

Severa glared back at the prince and turned her attention back to the town, her stance not changing.

"Well, aren't you supposed to be showing me around this place?" Severa asked.

Diaval glared down at the wolf and walked in front of her.

"I don't like this any more than you, so you can cut the attitude." Diaval said.

"My most sincere apologies, Your Majesty..." Severa said sarcastically, bowing deeply before the dark prince.

Diaval couldn't help but chuckle at Severa's comment.

"At least you've got a sense of humor, Huntress." Diaval grinned.

Severa rolled her eyes and reluctantly followed the vampire prince. The prince showed Severa every nook and cranny of the kingdom, as well as his favorite spots. Severa wasn't that impressed.

"The park fountain is my favorite spot of all." Diaval commented.

"Really? Why?" Severa asked, sarcasm poisoning her words.

Diaval shot the wolf a dirty glare and sighed.

"Look, you can at least pretend to be interested." Diaval said.

"What do you think I've been doing for the past two hours?" Severa asked.

Diaval groaned and straightened his posture. The two then sat down on the fountain's edge, an awkward silence falling between them.

"The park fountain is my most favorite spot in the kingdom because it is where I wrote my first novel." Diaval explained, his voice sounding less enthusiastic.

Severa looked up at Diaval with patient eyes.

"What was it about?" Severa asked honestly.

The prince looked back at the young wolf and gave her a small grin.

"It was called Rose Blood. In this country, there was a white rose that turned red if it impaled a living creature." Diaval explained.

Severa nodded as she listened to the prince ramble about his novel. Severa turned her attention to the wall that was next to her and sighed.

"I need not grow close to him. He's my target; the kill that could set me for life," Severa whispered to herself, "However, growing close to him might give me the perfect opportunity to strike. Still, why is my chest tightening up?"

The wolf clutched her chest to suppress the growing pain. Diaval noticed this and turned to the mercenary with a grin.

"Are you alright?" he asked earnestly.

"Yeah, I'm good." Severa answered, waving a lazy hand.

Diaval nodded with a dashing grin. The pair looked up at the color-changing sky; a deep amber almost dark scarlet and sapphire blue hue soon became visible. The vampire and werewolf stared at each other, their eyes reflecting the heavens above.

"Come. It is getting late," Diaval said, holding out his hand, "Tomorrow, we will complete the second chapter of my novel."

Severa looked at the gloved hand and sighed silently. Severa stood up from the fountain on her own and made her way back to the castle.

"She'll come around, regardless of what I wrote." Diaval said to himself.

The prince stood and followed the mercenary back to his abode. Upon their arrival, Diaval and Severa walked inside and ascended the grand staircase. The vampire prince then showed Severa her room.

"Victorian," Severa said when she saw the room, "Lovely..."

"Not your style?" Diaval asked.

Severa gave the prince a "what do you think?" look. The prince only chuckled in understanding.

"Good evening, M'Lady." Diaval said, shutting the door.

Severa sighed and walked out onto the balcony. The kingdom below was illuminated by the light of the full moon. Changing into her hybrid form, Severa tilted her head back and let out a howl to the heavens. A choir of howls could be heard in the distance. Severa smiled and howled in response. From the doorframe, the prince watched the young wolf longingly with soft, silver eyes. A grin soon found its way on Diaval's pale features.

"That's my wolfy." Diaval said lovingly.

Morning dawned and just as Diaval said, he and Severa were going to complete chapter two of this insane novel. Repeating yesterday, the pair wandered around the town, only this time, Diaval had to buy Severa a gift of her choosing.

"See anything you like?" Diaval asked, leaning against the jewelry store's wall.

Severa admired the shimmering jewels and glittering crystals in the transparent display case. Severa's eyes soon saw a brooch that matched her werewolf eyes perfectly.

"That brooch looks stunning." Severa said dryly.

Diaval walked up to the wolf and smiled.

"And I'm sure it will look stunning on you." Diaval said, paying the jeweler.

The jeweler handed the brooch to the prince and Diaval pinned it on the mercenary's navy blue, sleeveless, polyester top.

"Looks like I was right." Diaval grinned.

For the first time, Severa gave the dark prince a small smile. This reaction startled the vampire.

"So, you can smile." Diaval said with wide, silver eyes.

Severa's smile faded away and she raised a brow at the prince.

"Excuse me?" Severa asked.

"Nevermind." Diaval said.

The pair left the store and wandered around the town once more.

"So, does that conclude chapter two?" Severa asked.

"It does." Diaval answered truthfully.

Severa let out a sigh of relief.

"Finally..." Severa groaned.

Diaval smiled down at the wolf and breathed out a sigh.

"So, what's next?" Severa asked, "The quicker we finish this, the quicker I can kill you."

"You still want to kill me after I bought you a gift out of the kindness of my heart?" Diaval asked.

Severa chuckled and rolled her eyes in disbelief.

"You had to buy me a gift because of your damn novel, so don't try to pull that mess with me. As you said, you don't like this any more than I do," Severa said, "I don't like you and you don't like me. We're only doing this to escape this stupid enchantment you put on us so that way we can get back to our normal lives... Well, so that I can get back to my normal life."

Severa's words struck Diaval like a wooden stake to the heart. Diaval's face fell, and a dark shadow loomed over his features.

"Again, what's next?" Severa asked casually.

Diaval breathed out and looked ahead.

"In chapter three, the two of us... get to know each other a little better." Diaval said.

"Perfect..." Severa groaned.
