Chapter 6: Demonitis and Truths

Last time Jin reunited with his former Leader Geist so they could take down a supernatural trafficking operation. Jin promised to help with future missions if they needed him, but still refuses to rejoin the platoon proper. What awaits him next?

It had been about two weeks since Jin met up with Geist for what he thought would be his last mission with them. Jin however couldn't help but feel like it wouldn't be the last he would see if his former platoon. "Why did I offer to help with their other missions if they needed it? Dammit I'm trying to move on!" Jin thought to himself as he was currently driving back to his house after another successful janitor job. "I hope Lorem is doing okay, she said she was feeling under the weather this morning. Demons don't catch colds so that could only mean she has Demonitis. If that's the case I'll have to be careful." Jin thought to himself as he was driving down the road towards his home.
Jin pulled into the driveway before parking his truck and getting out. Jin started grabbing his cleaning supplies from the bed of his truck so he could put them away. Jin however was pulled from his thoughts when he heard rather distressed crying. "Is that Gospel? Shit did he catch from his mother?!" Jin thought to himself as he quickly dropped the cleaning supplies before rushing towards the front door of his house. Jin burst through the front door as he found Gospel gently pressing himself against a collapsed Chiharu. Given that her veins could be seen through her skin and they were a nasty black color, it was obviously apparent that Chiharu had caught Demonitis from Lorem.

"Son of a bitch!" Jin whispered to himself as he quickly moved Chiharu to the couch before picking up Gospel and making his way towards Lorem's room. "Lorem! Chiharu caught your Demonitis! We gotta do something!" Jin said in an urgent tone as he banged on the door to her room. "Jin?! How do you know what Demonitis is? Merii is on her way, she might be able to help!" Lorem said as Jin realized he just let it slip that he was in fact aware of an illness that only effects Demons primarily. "Doesn't matter how I know! Just get out here and help me!" Jin said as Lorem exited her bedroom and took Gospel from him before they both made their way back to the living room.
            Not even a minute after they made it to the living room did Merii burst through the front door of the house. "Where is she?!" Merii practically growled as Jin pointed towards the couch as Merii marched up to the afflicted girl. The three of them sat around Chiharu as they tried to figure out what to do next. "Is there something you can do?" Lorem asked her little sister nervously as she feared for Chiharu's life. "I'm thinking!!" Merii growled as she was panicking as well. Merii remained silent for a minute or two before her body Demonified before her tendrils moved towards Chiharu's body slowly.
"Merii if you do that Chiharu will turn into a Demon!" Lorem said as she tried to warn her sister. "A human body can't handle Demonitis, but if Chi-Chan uses my body it should save her life." Merii said as she seemed confident in her hypothesis. Merii gently cradled Chiharu in her arms as she let her tendrils heal the human girl.
