They finally understood, during the day when they died.
And the day when they lived.
They thought curses were cast from deities, or monsters with a thirst for revenge, or even the weaknesses of a human mind, such as lust or hubris. But they never had those things, they never had such flaws of a mind, angry deities, or vengeful monsters. And they wondered why they were given such a cursed fate.
They realize now, that curses were from outside and in. As their own mind cursed them, it was the worst thing they felt. The dark veil made of all their emotions winding around their body, seeping through their arteries and veins. Their vision seemed, trapping them in darkness. Every time they tried to break free, they couldn't. The curse(or their own mind) shackled down their abilities.
No touch,
No sound,
No sight.
Nothing.
Just absolute nothing.
They thought curses would be worse, but theirs,
it was the worst.
It was a curse that they couldn't break free from, and couldn't call for help.
It was a curse they couldn't find the source for, but at the same time could notice its presence as clear as day.
It was a curse that trapped them forever in a cage that they themselves built. And threw away a key. It was the most lethal kind of curse, a kind of curse that broke them little by little, and blocked all people from noticing.
The one worse thing than a lethal curse was being cursed by your own mind.
It destroyed them.
They once thought that they escaped, which turns out they were just trapped in another one of fates' games(or their own, or so they wondered).
They wished that this could end.
But nothing.
Absolutely Nothing happened.
Again and again, they spiraled.
With no way to get out,
and no way to get in.
