SINGIN' IN THE RAIN

New York, January 2006

Caroline was laying in Mark's dress shirt, the one worn during their dinner an hour before. Mark was in his kitchen making coffee for Caroline and himself.

It was raining outside, giving Caroline an idea.

"Mark! It's raining outside!" Caroline screams, looking out of the window. "Thank you, Captain Obvious!" Mark yells from the kitchen. "Hey!" Caroline laughed, "Don't be mean." Walking into the living room, Mark hands Caroline her coffee.

"Thank you." Caroline smiles. "So.. I was thinking..." Mark cut her off before she could continue. "Oh no. I know that voice. What do you want?" Caroline innocently smiles at him, "I want to go play in the rain."

Mark scoffs at her child-like idea. "Oh come on, Mark! It'll be fun!" Caroline brought out her puppy eyes knowing Mark couldn't say no to them. "Ugh. Fine."

"Yay!" Caroline quickly puts her coffee down before turning to Mark, giving him a peck on the lips.

Before Caroline could remove herself from Mark, he pulls her closer to his body, scared she would disappear if he let go. "Uhhh.... Mark? Could you let go? It's getting hard to breathe." Caroline laughed. "Oh," Mark chuckles, "Yeah. Sorry."

"It's ok," Caroline smiles, "I'm gonna go get our rain jackets and boots so we can go out in the rain."

As Caroline is walking away, she turns around to give Mark a sweet smile.

After getting their clothes on, Mark and Caroline make their way outside.

When the couple reached the doors to exit the building, Caroline quickly ran outside and began to jump in various puddles.

Smiling, Mark follows after Caroline.

"Will you please come out here with me? It's so fun!" Caroline joyously smiles. "Yeah, yeah. I'm coming." Mark smiles.

Smiling at her own antics, Caroline looks up into the sky, allowing the rain to fall onto her face. She was in complete euphoria. As Caroline is enjoying being outside, Mark stands behind her, hands resting in the pocket of his rain jacket, admiring the woman in awe.

Taking his eyes off the woman in front of him, Mark looks towards the wet pavement, contemplating on if he should ask her to take an impromptu trip to Seattle.

Mark's looking at the ground doesn't go unnoticed by Caroline.

Worried, Caroline speaks up, "Mark? You okay?" Walking towards the man, Caroline puts her hand on Mark's arm, rubbing up and down affectionately.

Looking up at Caroline, Mark replies, "Yeah, just thinking." Worried look remaining on Caroline's face, she asks, "Thinking about what?"

Hesitantly, Mark replied, "Just thinking about how to ask you something." A sigh of relief exits Caroline's mouth. "Ask me what? You can tell me anything." Tone soft as she spoke.

"Here goes nothing," he starts out, "Would you go to Seattle with me?" Mark finishes.

Caroline's smile grew the size of Texas, but Mark couldn't see it due to him looking towards the ground.

Noticing he wasn't looking at her, Caroline puts her hands on Mark's cheeks, pulling his head up, not dropping her smile once. "Hey. Don't look so glum." Caroline laughs. "Of course I'll go to Seattle with you."

"Oh thank God!" Mark lets out, picking up Caroline, and spinning her around as rain poured down on them both. Caroline giggled as Mark spun her around.
