I look up and see my king in a all white tuxedo hugging his firm broad shoulders travelling down to his V shape torso with a kākahu mama had loan him to wear. He is smiling a sweet gentle smile with a tear sitting on his eyelash.
I can't hear no one but my heart beating I am pulled from my thoughts by my king who squeezes my magical hands.
I heard papa Johnny voice.
"Moses will you take kaia to be your lawful wedded wife? Will you love, honour and respect her, be honest with her, and stand by her through whatever may come, so you can genuinely share your life together?"Moses has not taken his soft eyes off mine nor have I.
"I will" moses speaks to only me and a few whānau whistled and "cheehoo."
"Kaia, will you take moses to be your lawful wedded husband? Will you love, honour and respect him, be honest with him, and stand by him through whatever may come, so you can genuinely share your life together?"
I nod at uncle Johnny and heard a few chuckles moses lean forward.
"My love I need to hear your words." he leans back and I sheepishly smiled.
"I will" and watched moses raise our hands to his lips and whispered "Thank you" and placed a kiss on my knuckles. I jump when everyone roared with excitement and moses rubbed my arms to calm my nerves.
I looked to my right and saw my cruise friends waving and whistling standing up against the tipi wall. My whãnau screaming like eggs, I look down to my precious babah mohi sitting on the chair wearing his cute suit swinging his little legs back and fourth with amarok and akela laying under his feet. He catches me staring and waves at me and I wink back at him my flutters to see him finally happy.Moses squeezes my hands again and I look up into his eyes.
"I call upon everyone here to witness that I moses take you kaia to be my lawfully wedded wife. Kaia I promise to be your loving friend and partner in marriage. To talk and to listen, to trust and appreciate you, to respect and cherish your uniqueness, and to support, comfort, and strengthen you through life's joys and sorrows. I promise to share hopes, thoughts, and dreams as we build our lives together."
I felt every word he spoke ok kaia your turn I take a deep breath and try to slow my heart pounding from his words. .
"I call upon everyone here to witness that I kaia take you moses to be my lawfully wedded husband. Moses, I promise to be your loving friend and partner in marriage. To talk and to listen, to trust and appreciate you, to respect and cherish your uniqueness, and to support, comfort, and strengthen you through life's joys and sorrows. I promise to share hopes, thoughts, and dreams as we build our lives together."
Papa flicks his eyebrow at me to say very good bub and uncle speaks again.
"Now family and friends from near and far it is now time for moses and kaia to exchange rings. Rings as a symbol of marriage are thought to have originated in Ancient Egypt. The ring finger on the left hand is believed to have been chosen at that time as there is a vein in the finger that runs directly to the heart. The circle of a ring represents eternal love as it has neither a beginning nor an end. Avel could I have the rings?"
Avel pulls the rings out of his suit jacket and hands them to uncle. Uncle hands moses my ring.
