Steven's Back Home Again. But with a new attitude and outlook. Now more assertive and not as affected by the opinions of others, how will things change?

*At that point....my anger took hold. I felt it...the crystalline forming...my rage growing....*

*Back to reality*
"So that's how we met. Steven's the first real friend I ever made and I never thought we'd end up as a couple. But that's just how unpredictable life is, right?" I could hear Connie say Ms Linda and Dad laughed. Oh right. Ms Linda is treating us to lunch.
"Hey. Steven. You alright, son? You've been really quiet." Greg asked as I snapped back to reality and out of that memory. My mind tended to do that a lot, especially after that happened that night. But those guys started it. They broke in and thought I was just some regular human they could shake down. They...they had it coming.
"Steven? You OK? Biscuit?" Connie said as I looked at her while Linda laughed. Really, Connie?!?
"Biscuit? Is that your name for him, Connie? How cute!!" She said as Connie smirked.
"Well. It's either this or Cutie--" She began to say until I changed the subject.
Garnet, I love you but THAT NAME......
"Yeah, Dad. I'm fine....." I said as I mentally facepalmed. Why did I have to say THOSE two words? Now they KNOW something is up!
"Now don't pressure him, you two. Whatever is on his mind he'll tell you when he's comfortable telling you and not a moment before." Ms Linda said as I smiled. Haven't even known her for a full day and I already love her.
I could tell Connie was a bit annoyed but still was trying to be polite as the food soon arrived. As she was eating, I saw her look at me. She didn't say anything, but her look said it all:
"She won't always be here to save you."
But I didn't let it get to me. However, something DID get to me as we had finished eating a while later and were heading back to the van...
"Who let the monster back into town? You'd think those Crystal Freaks would do their job but I guess it's too much to ask since they'd have to kill their monster baby Twerp Universe! Not like anything of value would have been lost!" A voice laughed as we all looked and saw none other than Kevin, the biggest jerk in Beach City.
"Steven, let it go. Let's just go home. Ignore him, OK? He has no class and everyone knows this. Let's just go home and....huh?" Connie said to me.
But I was already walking over to take care of this asshole. This has been going on for too many years, damn it! Despite many people telling me to walk away or be the bigger person, Kevin needed to be brought down a peg!
"Oh what's wrong? Did I make you mad? What, you're going to turn into that big scary monster again and destroy the town?" Kevin said as I felt myself on the edge of losing it. It was just like that night....I felt it.....the anger....
And as if it was happening at light speed....
*WHAM!*
Everyone gasped as I drove my fist into Kevin's stomach, causing him to collapse to the ground, coughing and hacking as I glared at him.
"The beast in me is sleeping. Not dead. So it's probably not smart to wake it up. Because if you do? You'll be the first one it goes after, Kevin. Now fuck off. This your only warning." I said in a dark voice as Connie, Dad and Ms Linda were stunned. But I had to do that. That NEEDED to happen.
As Kevin scrambled, picked himself up and drove off, I looked at Connie and Dad.
"Don't look at me like that. After all these years of what I've had to put up with, did you really think I was going to STILL put up with with assholes like Kevin just because you want me to? Maybe years ago, but not anymore. I grew out of doing what everyone else expects of me. Of doing the "right thing". Now....you know what? Forget it. Let's just go home." I said bitterly as Dad was about to speak but Ms Linda stopped him.
"Save it for later when he's calmer. Getting on him will only make things worse. That goes for you as well, Connie." I could hear her say as the 3 of them joined me as we all got in the van and I drove us home.
I knew this wasn't over, especially once the Gems find out. Guess I just have to deal with it once it comes.
