☾ chapter two: "one hundred percent honest"

"You're so in love with her, it's disgusting," Daniel chuckled, getting an elbow poked in the ribs from Ross. The two best friends stood beside each other while watching the living room from the corner, getting a clear view from all of the people at the party.

Ross sighed as he silently thanked the living room for being so dimly lit, their friends not able to see the rosy blush spreading across his cheeks. "I haven't seen her in so long and my feelings are still the same. She makes me fucking weak man."

Ross noticed Hayden was catching up with Savannah, Riker's wife and one of her best friends. Ever since she had dated Ross a while back, Sav and Hayden had been inseparable. Even after Ross and her broke up, Sav and Hayden kept on being best friends and he knew they had been hanging out before he moved back to Los Angeles.

"She noticed it too," Riker spoke up from where he appeared next to the two younger guys, nodding his head into Hayden's direction with a small smirk forming onto his face. "Hayden's discussing her feelings towards Sav."

Ross looked from where he was looking at the rings on his fingers up to meet his brother's gaze. "Her feelings?"

Both Daniel and Riker let out a groan, chuckling afterwards. The fact that Ross was so oblivious to Hayden being interested in him too made both of them feel like this was a typical thing for Ross.

"You can't tell me you weren't aware of her feelings towards you bro," Riker laughed while shaking his head, all three of them remaining their looks set on Hayden and Sav as the two girls chilled on the couch in the corner of the living room.

Ross sighed, "I mean- I- we never really confessed we were in love so how was I supposed to know?" He tried, knowing full on that he was trying to convince himself more than his two mates right in front of him.

Truth is, Ross was fully aware of how Hayden felt for him. He had been aware ever since they ended up being the only ones left in the studio after Ross's band finished recording.

Savannah double scheduled and didn't want to leave Hayden alone on a Saturday night, which ended up in Sav bringing her best friend to meet up with her boyfriend Riker and his siblings.

"They really are leaving us, aren't they?" Ross chuckled as he watched how the door closed behind Rydel, the only Lynch sister, leaving the two of them all alone.

Hayden and Ross were sitting on the floor, the carpet underneath them soft and the couch behind them to give them somewhat of a back rest. "I have to tell you something but please don't get awkward with me afterwards, okay?"

Ross looked up at the smaller brunette after he lifted his head, a pleading look on her face as she waited for Ross to answer her. "Can't promise anything," He chuckled, "But now you made me curious so, go ahead."

The brunette cleared her throat and broke the eye contact while fiddling with the ring on her middle finger, "Were you the one confessing your feelings towards me with song lyrics back on Valentines?"

It caught Ross completely off guard, because he never expected her to find out it was actually him that wrote her a song and put the inked sheets of paper in an envelope, only to make sure it was in her purse before she left the studio.

He let out a breathy chuckle before scratching the back of his neck, "I uh- I mean I guess I can't deny anymore right now? Can I?"

Hayden found herself smiling at his words, "You intrigue me, Ross. In every way possible."

"The song you wrote her a year back must've said enough," Daniel grinned as he raised his cup up to his mouth to take a sip of the strong liquor. "She never would've come back here after you left if she didn't still feel the same."

Riker nodded and raised his cup, "That's a fact," He agreed while he watched his younger brother's cheeks turn a crimson red color. "I'm sure she'd love to talk to you some more tonight. Catch up for lost time now that we're back."

Rocky managed to get through the crowd before letting himself in on the conversation, "Is Ross still contemplating whether Hayden still loves him or not?"

His words caused Ross to groan loudly, running his hands across his face in despair before reaching for Rocky's drink to take a big gulp. His face scrunched together in distaste before the cup was back into Rocky's hands, the older Lynch realizing he must've been right with his previous statement.

Ross wasn't aware of what was happening behind him as he made his way towards Savannah and Hayden, the two girls now talking to some of their friends. Before Ross was even able to comprehend what his body was doing, his arm snaked around Hayden and his torso lightly pressed against her back. "Hey angel."

The nickname caused shivers to run down Hayden's spine as well as the cold metal of Ross' rings burning though the thin material of her dress. "Finally got the courage to talk to me?"

Her sarcasm laced words caused Ross to grin, licking his lips before he spoke up, lips brushing the shell of her ear lightly, "Had to get myself together to talk to such a gorgeous woman."

"Stop that," Hayden chuckled while shaking her head, still not knowing how Ross somehow always seemed to find a way with words, "I was joking."

He took her hand before slowly turning her around, his free hand wiping some baby hairs away from her face. His eyes scanned her features intently, although this action made Hayden's heart beat faster as to what was supposed to come next.

"I wasn't joking around when I said that. One hundred percent honest."
