Here comes the boy || Tubbo x male reader

Y/n POV

     It was a day after we had kissed. Niki had asked me if we were dating, I didn't know what to tell her. Were we?

     I couldn't sleep that night. I don't know why, I just couldn't. So I read more Edgar Allan Poe. Toby had fallen asleep almost as soon as his head hit the pillow. 

     It was about 2 am when Tubbo laid his arm across my waist, and his other arm went under the pillow. "What time is it" He said groggily. 

     I checked my phone. "2:13 in the morning." He pulled me closer to him. "So why are you still awake?" He still had his eyes closed. "Because I can't sleep dummy."

     He took the book I was holding. "Hey!" I tried to reach for it but he held it farther away. "Stop, calm down. I'm gonna read to you, hopefully it'll make you fall asleep before I do." 

     He wanted to read to me? Wilbur used to do that for me when I was younger. When he first let me move in with him id have trouble sleeping, so he'd let me sleep in his bed with him and he'd read me some random literature he liked. 

     Toby smiled at me and I laid my head on his chest. "It was many and many a year ago, In a kingdom by the sea, That a maiden there lived whom you may know, by the name of Annabel Lee; And this maiden she lived with no other thought than to love and be loved by me." 

     Toby's voice was calming.. It made me feel safe. "I was a child and she was a child, In this kingdom by the sea, but we loved with a love that was more than love- I and my Annabel Lee- With a love that the winged seraphs of Heaven coveted her and me." 

     I closed my eyes and listened to his heartbeat. He slowly rubbed my back with his free hand. "And this was the reason that, long ago, In this kingdom by the sea, a wind blew out of a cloud, chilling my beautiful Annabel Lee; So that her highborn kinsmen came and bore her away from me, to shut her up in a sepulchre in this kingdom by the sea."

     "The angels, not half so happy in Heaven, went envying her and me- Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know, in this kingdom by the sea) That the wind came out of the cloud by night, chilling and killing my Annabel Lee."

     "But our love it was stronger by far than the love of those who were older than we- of many far wiser than we- And neither the angels in Heaven above nor the demons down under the sea can ever dissever my soul from the soul of the beautiful Annabel Lee;"

     I felt myself starting to get tired. "For the moon never beams, without bringing me dreams of the beautiful Annabel Lee; And the stars never rise, but I feel the bright eyes of the beautiful Annabel Lee; And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride, in her sepulchre there by the sea- In her tomb by the sounding sea." 

     That was all it took for me to fall asleep. Toby's calming voice and me in his arms. That was all I needed.  

Toby POV

     I finished reading the poem. There were some words in there I did not know but I hope I did okay. When I looked down, y/n was asleep. I smiled. It made me happy knowing I could do that. He looked so peaceful. I kissed the top of their head and turned off the lamp carefully as to not wake him. 

     Then I fell asleep too. 

~Time skip~ 

y/n POV 

     When I woke up Toby wasn't there. Again. He must've gotten up already. I grabbed my phone to check the time. 12:34. No wonder he wasn't here, I slept in so late. I got up and went to the bathroom to do my business and made sure I looked somewhat presentable. 

     I walked downstairs to find most people grouped around the T.V. It looked like they were playing another game but I didn't know what it was. I walked Into the kitchen to see Tubbo lying on the floor, on his phone. 

     I stood in the door way and stared at him. Then I started laughing. "Why are you on the floor?" I was laughing harder than I should've. He got scared and dropped his phone on his face which made me laugh even harder. 

     His face got really red and he sat up. I walked over to where he was and sat down next to him, still laughing. "You're enjoying my pain way too much." I looked up at him and he was smiling. 

    I took a deep breath to contain myself and I laid back onto the floor. He laid back too. I turned my head to face him. He was.. perfect. I couldn't think of a single thing about him that I didn't like. 

     "Why are you staring at me weirdo?" I smiled at him. "Cause you're pretty tubby" He gave me a smile. "You think I'm pretty?" I giggled. "The prettiest."

     At that moment Dream walked into the kitchen and saw us lying on the floor. "What are you two doing" He stared at us and we both jumped up quickly. 

     I went to the cabinet and grabbed a bowl. "Hey, don't eat now, I wanna take you out somewhere if that's okay?" Tubbo asked me from across the counter.

     I smiled. "Yeah, that's okay." He turned to Dream and started asking about close places we could walk to. Luckily there were a couple options that weren't too far. I ran upstairs to get ready. 

~Time skip~

     We got to the restaurant, it was a small local diner. The walk there wasn't too bad. Florida is hotter and more humid than the UK but it wasn't too bad.

     We sat down at a table in the corner and looked at the menus. Toby saw that there were banana chocolate chip pancakes and got excited. "I'm getting those!!" He had a big smile on his face and I couldn't help but smile back. 

      "I will too." When the waiter came over we gave her our order. "I'll have that right out for you two." 

~Time skip~

     We finished eating and were just talking now. "Hey y/n?" Toby looked down at his hands. "Yeah?" He sounded worried. "Can I ask you something?" I smiled and nodded. "Of course you can."

     "Would you... um.." He hesitated and it scared me. "Would you want to be my.. partner?" I stared at him. He wanted to date me? 

     I nodded slowly. His face lit up. "Really?" I smiled and nodded again. He grabbed my hand and we made eye contact. We sat like that for what felt like ages, just looking into each others eyes. 

     The waiter came over and handed us the check. We broke eye contact and looked at the check. We both pulled out our wallets but Toby stopped me. "No no I got this one." 

     "Are you sure? I can pay." he shook his head. "No, I got it." He smiled at me and I put my wallet away. After he paid we left the diner and started walking back. 

     We walked by this small shop that caught my eye. "Can we go in real quick?" I asked Tubbo "Of course" 

     We walked inside and looked around a bit. Then I saw something. I ran over to it. there were two small bee plushies there. Toby came over to see what I was looking at. "We have to get them!" I picked them up. 

     I brought them over to the cashier and he scanned them. I pulled out my wallet. "No, its on the house." He winked at me. Ew. Toby came over and put his arm around my waist. "Is everything okay?" 

     The cashiers face went from smiling and glaring at tubbo. "Yeah. All good. Here you go." He handed me the bees back and walked away. 

     Toby took my hand and we walked out of the store and back down the street to the house. Thank god I have him.

this chapter sucks, I know, I'm just trying to get a chapter out for you guys. Anyways hope you like Edgar Allan Poe considering that's most of the chapter.
