When the words eventually registered, and God knows how long it took for them to register, I turned and when I was fully turned, I was back in my wolf form.
I glanced back and saw Greg with a gaping mouth, I smiled with a satisfied glint in my eyes. I took off and left the place giving them the space to wonder about one of my abilities, shifting in a blink of an eye unlike any other werewolf, another trait I possessed, passed down to me through my Dad. We were the only two people to ever have those abilities.
My wolf legs took me as fast as they could and finally brought me to my house, a safe but lonely abyss. I slipped through the door and entered the room, the intensity of my loneliness going up a triple fold, all my emotions crashed down on me making me fall on the floor, shifting in the process and lying stark naked. I didn't know what to feel but if I were to describe what I thought I was feeling then, I just felt...numb.
Everything ceased to exist and they also ceased making sense to me, maybe I wasn't cut out for anything but agony. I lost my family and then found my mate who rejected me at my weakest point, the most hilarious ever. I didn't know my tears were escaping my eyes till they formed a little pool, gradually flowing under my head. I couldn't stop them and I didn't want to, I was tired and too numb to even care.
My memories jumbled and I found myself, in the kitchen, about two months ago trying to make some pasta. I was busy shaking my body to the music in my earphones, a Chinese song I couldn't get a damn word from but still enjoyed nonetheless. I felt a huge sniff behind me and I turned to the wide-grinning face of my sister who was weird as usual when her nose catches the faintest whiff of food.
"Oh my God!" She exclaimed, moaning "I swear after this meal, I'm yours to command forever," she said playfully bumping my shoulder with hers.
I laughed and shook my head at her, that was not surprising coming from her. Her weakness was food, get her something delicious and she would even kill your mate without so much hesitation should you say it.
"Laud?" Mom questioned her in a chastising tone with a raise of an eyebrow as her usual 'cool mom' smirk decorated her lips.
"What?" She scoffed and dumped herself on of the kitchen stools, which was a little far from the kitchen island. She looked up at me with a look I was so much familiar with, a look that meant no good.
"La-" before I could finish what I was about to say, she intentionally dragged the chair as noisiest as she could along the tiled floor of the kitchen making immense scraping sounds that were enough to make an average wolf lose his sense of sound. My hand instinctively covered my ears and then she stopped.
"Mom, what were you saying earlier?" She turned to Mom with a sickly sweet smile.
Mom shot deathly glares at her, a glare that sent chills down my spine even though they were not directed at me. Slowly, I turned and tended to my pasta, adding the finishing touches and then taking it off the heat to serve. I was very much aware of the silent battle going on between my mother and sister, the only two females in our house, and trust me, I'd rather find myself with the craziest of humans than be in the battle zone I was in now. I took out three plates, dished some pasta onto them, and then took one.
"I'll be upstairs" I began " on the balcony" I added awkwardly and scurried out of the kitchen.
A splitting headache took over and distorted the memories making me scream in the process. I turned around to lie on my back as I opened my eyes slowly to an empty and dark house.
"Laud" I muttered the name of my sister softly as if I was afraid that the name would also run away from me after I speak it out.
I could hear the birds chirping out the welcome of the evening, I realized I had been laying for more hours than I thought, the skies were already tinted with the golden hues of sunset, and a breeze blew around me and made me develop goosebumps all over my body, a reminder that I was naked and cold and..... alone.
