The Soul

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. Here's the next chapter. 

Natasha's POV

I woke up facing an orange sky. Why wasn't I dead? I sacrificed myself to retrieve the soul stone and fell off a cliff. I should be dead.

Elena.

If it worked Elena would come back along with James and everyone else. She wouldn't have me. But Laura and the kids would have Clint. Elena was used to being on her own and she would have James, she would be fine.

But I couldn't stop thinking about how she would cope. Technically she had only been away from HYDRA for almost three years and she had always had me. But she would understand and she might get to meet the Avengers, they could take care of her.

I stood up and saw someone standing in the distance so I walked over. She had green skin and black hair with hot pink tips.

"Who are you?" She looked over at me.

"I'm Gamora." My eyes widened.

"You died getting the soul stone too." She nodded.

"Thanos killed me to get the soul stone. From what I understand you sacrificed yourself for it." I nodded.

"I'm Natasha."

"I know." We sat in a comfortable silence until I spoke up.

"What happens now?"

"I don't know. Maybe something will happen or maybe we'll stay here for eternity." We stayed like that for who knows how long making small talk.

"Did you leave anyone behind?" Gamora smiled sadly.

"My boyfriend Peter, and my team. Did you leave anyone behind?" I nodded.

"My team, and my family."

"Who's your family?" I smiled.

"My sister Yelena, my friend Clint's family, and" I paused. "My daughter Elena and James." She looked at me confused.

"Who's James?"

"It's complicated. He's Elena's father and my lover. He was there for me when no one else was and he took care of Elena to help her survive. He's the kindest man I've ever met and not many people see that side of him."

"You love him don't you." I nodded.

"I do and I hope he understands that I did this so he and Elena could have a future." Gamora nods understandingly.

"He does."

Just then I start turning to dust like I saw James doing five years earlier.

"You're going back."

"What about you?" She smiled.

"I have come to terms with staying here. You have a daughter to get back to." I turned to dust and woke up on top of the mountain with Steve looking at me concerned.

"Nat, are you okay?" I sit up and take in my surroundings.

"What-"

"It's 2014 and I returned the soul stone and you came back." He picks me up in his arms and hugs me tight but I break out of the hug and look at Steve.

"What happened?"

"We brought everyone back and Thanos came back so everyone fought and beat him. There was some kid I don't know fighting as well. Carol snapped her fingers and got some minor injuries. Everyone is okay and we had a funeral for you a couple days ago. I'm returning the stones and now you can go back I'll give you the time to set your-"
