The peasant folk walk fast in the forest. When in the realm of the fairies and the beasts, it is best to keep your head down. Even the smallest of the children know it, the babes that go quiet within the boundary.
Everyone knows the legend. Her name is La Esperanta. That was not her real name, but no one knows it anyway. Yet they all know her story. The rotting wood underneath the new cabin that's been built and rebuilt over and over is all that's left of the house.
No one from the area ever comes into the house. They all know one thing: those that go in don't come out.
Instead, they use it to rent. A quaint, rustic, cozy cottage in the middle of a beautiful forest. Beautiful during the day, anyway. Who could resist? Those from the outside don't know any better. This is for the better. Times have been hard. They need the money.
But besides that, no one has lived in the cottage. No one since La Esperanta.
