Olivia knew exactly where Hank would be; there wasn’t an inkling of doubt lingering in her mind as she drove with Connor sitting silently in the passenger seat beside her. “So,” she begins whilst momentarily flickering her gaze to Connor as he turns his head to look at her, “I should warn you about Hank.”
“I know all about Lieutenant Anderson, I read his files.” Connor informs her whilst returning his gaze forward.
Olivia chuckles involuntarily before once more, giving Connor a brief side glance, though upon seeing the look of confusion on his face at her clear amusement, she settles on smiling. “There is a lot those files can’t tell you about a person, Connor. For example, Hank is a stubborn man who is very particular about what he does and doesn’t like.” she explains whilst gesturing with her hand slightly. Connor nods as he processes this information, his eyes trained on the side of her face in thought. “Unfortunately for you, you're on the list of things he doesn’t like.” she warns him gently.
“Lieutenant Anderson is a difficult man?”
“Indeed.”
“So, the best approach is to compromise and adapt.” Connor says in the same flat tone as he nods simply.
Olivia smiles and pulls up outside Jimmy’s bar before turning off the engine and looking at Connor in detail for the first time since they’d been introduced. She allows her gaze to drift from his perfectly swept back brown hair to his warm chocolate brown eyes that appeared to study and process everything around him. Then her gaze slips lower to his freckled cheeks and soft lips that truly look more human than she had first expected. If she was honest with herself, she would say she found the android to be rather attractive in appearance. Unfortunately, she wasn’t being paid to gawk at the poor man now looking at her strangely with a tilted head.
“Is everything okay, Detective Winters?”
His voice pulls her from her drifting train of thought, causing her cheeks to tint a light shade of pink as she averts her gaze to her lap sheepishly due to having been caught staring at him. “Yes, my apologies.” she mumbles quietly whilst attempting to calm her racing heart.
“Are you sure? Your heart rate has significantly increased above its resting rate.” he informs her with creased brows. “I can request the appropriate assistance if necessary?”
“I’m sure.” she reassures, “and please, call me Olivia.”
“Of course.” Connor nods, causing the now calmer woman to mimic him with a smile of her own.
