Chapter 11 - Amaterasu/Final Exams

May I join this as Rei's partner? I agree with the class; this seems a bit unfair considering they all have pairs while he doesn't.

Day 6

Rei instantly wakes up from the little sleep he had. He had another nightmare again. Ever since he felt that bloodlust from Stain, he has been having nightmares back to back. He puts his hands on his face and slides it down. Sweat drenched his hands.

Rei regains his breath and looks at the time. 6:42 AM. Rei gets washed up and puts on his clothes.

"I need to be back by 8. Mirko would probably kill me if I missed this again." Rei says before climbing out the window. Rei crawls down and walks on the street.

He walks some ways until he arrives at an abandoned building. Rei sighs and enters it.

"It's still in tact. Like I never left the place..." Rei says as he jumps up to the second floor. He enters the second room on the left. Inside, he opened up a case that had disks in it. He grabs it and then makes his way back out.

Rei then climbs the highest building in Japan. And then sits on the roof. Rei opened the case he had and played one of the disks.

"Hey Rei, It's your favorite hero." Rei hears giggling in the background of a bay.

"Yes. I'm talking about you." He hears a baby Rei giggling in the back.

"I just wanted to say. When you hear this, remember I'm always with you. Not matter what happens or what you do. I will always be there." The disk ends. Rei kept going through each one until he got to some of the last ones.

"Hey Rei, It's Granny Shiranui. Your favorite hero." The voice from the disk says.

"I know how much of a hero you want to be. And you can do it if you put your mind to it. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise because I believe in you. You have a dormant quirk, I know. But it's not about the quirk, it's about who you are as a person and what actions you do to help others."

"Kitsune. We need to go now."

"Alright, I'm coming. But be careful Rei. I love you, my precious grandson. And you can be a hero." The disks stop playing. Rei looks down and he had tears from his eyes.

"You're the only one who told me, that I could if I try," Rei says. Rei feels something behind him as he was tugged on. Rei looks up and sees Mirko.

"Mirko..."

"Come on kid. You need this..." After hearing all that, a simple pat on the back wasn't going to work.

"How did you know I was here?"

"I went to find you before patrol and I saw someone up here. Then I heard crying a little ways down. You cry a lot you know that. Makes you seem weak sometimes." She says to him.

"Pffft... Shut up hardass..." Rei jokingly punched her arm.

"Crybaby." They both start laughing.

"So the Fox Hero: Kitsune was your grandmother. That's a shocker." Mirko says.

"Yeah, she was my number 1 growing up. She got me through a lot." Rei says. "These CDs she makes really help sometimes." Rei looks at the view of Japan. There was a moment of silence between the two.

"Hey Mirko, I'm sorry about this week. I -I just you know-" Rei was struggling to get his apology out. Rei took a deep breath and exhales.

"Sorry for disrespecting you this internship. I should've just listened and learned this whole time instead of doing my own thing. And sorry for discrediting you and heroes like that." Rei says.
