Chapter 15 - This is Goodbye...

"It's the only rational thing I can do right now. Why would I just stay with a bunch of people who bullied and betrayed me?"

A month has passed since the whole Rei incident and the class was divided due to it. The Rei protection squad didn't even give the tormentors a single chance to apologize for their mistakes. But due to the hero course requiring their cooperation, they had to bear with it. Meanwhile, Rei was still recovering from his torture but today is the day he wakes up from his coma. The protection squad got notified about Rei waking up.

They enter the room and when they do they see Rei staring out the window.

Without any hesitation Amaterasu dropped her bag and walked to him, hugging him tightly with tears. He was shocked at first but he returned the hug.

"Guys..."

"We were so worried about you!" Mina was crying because her best friend finally woke up after a month from his coma.

"I'm so glad... I am so glad you're still alive..." Amaterasu hugs him tighter.

"How are you feeling?" Momo asked, making Rei chuckle a bit.

"I could be better"

"Any lasting damages...?" Amaterasu asked him. The doctor hasn't told Rei about the lasting injuries. All Rei knew was that he had scarring on his arms but that was obvious.

"Well my arms are mostly scared but everything else is fine as far as I know. The doctor hasn't told me yet" Mina was fuming when she heard that.

"I can't believe those monsters did that to you!"

"I cannot fathom that this is what heroes in training are like-"

"Guys it's okay, We all make mistakes." Rei tries to force himself to smile but he fails to.

"No! That is still unacceptable despite this!" Amaterasu said sternly. She knew this isn't okay, that what happened is wrong. It wasn't a mistake to her. Mistakes like that don't exist to her.

"She's right that had no right to put you at death's door like that!" Mina was angry just thinking about it. And everyone was pretty much agreeing with them.

"I have to agree. Whether it was true or not, they had no right to do this!" Momo says sternly. Kendo even agreed with them.

"That was no mistake! They should've talked to you first and even then they shouldn't have beat you like that. You're being a bit too nice to them after all that!"

Komori barely knew him, and yet tears flooded down her cheeks "Why... why would someone do that, shroom... Who thought it was the only way for this to happen!"

As for Reiko, For once, she looked pissed. Not saying a word at all. They all gave their own words about the situation but then the doctor comes in with Rei's injury report.

"Mr. Amamiya. We have some good news and Bad news" Amaterasu lets go of him, letting the doctor continue and giving Rei space. The doctor then proceeds to talk about Rei's injuries.

"The bad news is that you have some permanent scarring on your abdomen along with more scarring on your arms. Along with that, after you took massive head trauma, nothing is broken but you are more prone to get dizzy or feel light headed. As for your spine, we needed surgery to fix it but I wouldn't try anything too combat heavy. You still have minor injuries but those were the major ones"

"Oh dear lord..." Amaterasu didn't like what she was hearing.

"The good news is that your recovery went well. You passed all your tests, but we will be doing more on you now that you're awake. If all goes well, you'll be discharged today. You are still able to be a hero in training."
