After all he was still alive. The first thing Megumi realized when he slowly drifted back into consciousness again was that he felt less pain than he would have expected. To be exact, he felt quite good. The more he willed himself to wake up, the more he became aware of his surroundings even before he opened his eyes.

He was lying on a soft mattress, that was too soft in order to be his bed back at the school dorm and way too comfortable in order to be one of the beds at the medical section. When he took a deep breath it smelled like expensive incense sticks and the smell of sanitizer was absent.

Altogether Megumi was sure that he was at a place he had never been before and therefore his eyes flew open with a little panic.

Quickly he tried to take in his surroundings. He was in the middle of a queen size four poster bed that was carved out of mahogany. The sheets were only the most exquisite velvet and the room itself was decorated with antique Japanese lacquer furnitures.

If Megumi should guess this looked like a bedroom fit for the emperor of Japan. The question was, how the hell did he end up in here?

With a start he looked down at himself. He was wearing loose grey sweatpants and his torso was bare except for the bandages that went around his chest and arms.

Unconsciously his hand reached up to his temple. He remembered one particularly vicious blow, he could nearly still feel the pain of the impact. His fingers made contact with a thick patch and this was confirmation enough for him, that the last battle hadn't been a dream.

Hence they must have won the battle otherwise why should he still be alive?

With a sigh he let himself fall backwards into the cushions once more and closed his eyes. Obviously he was out of danger for now and someone had already taken good care of his wounds.

For a second the fight replayed inside his mind. Although he was not proud to admit it, back then he had been sure that his last moments had come.

Even after graduating from school and working as grade one sorcerers for several years Megumi and Yuji seemed to have found the strongest opponent ever. After several hours of fighting Megumi had received the final blow and lost consciousness. The memory made him feel nauseous and somehow ashamed. With a shock he set upright again, raking one hand through his unruly black hair.

Yuji?

He was just about to get up, when he heard the door opening. Megumi held his breath in anticipation and when he was greeted by black pink spiky hair he let out a sigh of relief. But his happiness didn't last long.

When Megumi was able to see the persons face, it was not Yuji's happy and carefree expression, but he looked straight into Sukuna's mocking grin, red eyes sparkling with mischief.

"You're up and awake already! You're tougher than I would've expected. It seems you're still full of surprises."

Of course Megumi was used to the occasional brief appearance's of Sukuna, however this time something felt extremely off. Still he would never be taking down his guard around Sukuna. It would be reckless either way.

The black haired man shifted uncomfortably on the white bedsheets.

"Where is Yuji?" He asked, even though he was positive that Sukuna wouldn't answer him.

However the king of curses came closer and sat down next to Megumi on the mattress, making Megumi's hairs stand up.

Sukuna first looked down on his fingers with the long black nails, which he folded inside his lap and then he turned back to Megumi with a happy grin.
