Hearing about an incoming attack made Megumi's heart speed up. Maybe his friends had finally been able to make out his location and came here to rescue Yuji and him. If it was Gojo, then Megumi was positive that he stood a good chance against the king of curses.
Sukuna however didn't seem too fazed by the message. Lazily he jumped from the bed like a cat and stood in front of Uraume.
"Sorcerers or curses?" He inquired.
"Curses," Uraume informed his master, who rolled all his four eyes in annoyance.
"They really don't know their place, do they?"
Since the question was rhetorical anyways Uraume did not reply.
"Should I take care of it?" the boy asked with a low bow.
Sukuna held up his hand as if he was considering something very interesting.
"Megumi?" He suddenly called over and the young man looked up with confusion written all over his face.
"Come with me."
Naturally this was not an offer, nor was there any room for discussions. He hopped from the bed and followed the other.
Of course Megumi was glad that he had been able to escape the dire situation, but he could not feel relieved yet, since he wasn't sure if his circumstance were not about to become even worse.
Soon they had left the mansion and were now walking through the gardens and the further they got away from the house Megumi could feel that they had passed a very strong barrier somewhere along the way.
When he turned around there was no mansion behind him, only more mountains and trees. So this was the secret behind the fact that this place had been hidden for such a long time. Whoever had set up this barrier must have been a very powerful sorcerer, Megumi acknowledged. Only he had not much more time to think about it, since his attention was drawn in, by several huge curses that came walking into his direction. They looked like three giants, only their heads were distorted and Megumi couldn't tell if this thing between their shoulders was even meant to be a face. It was devoid of eyes, a nose or a mouth.
Sukuna's voice next to him made Megumi suddenly snap back into reality.
"You probably already know those are three special grade curses."
Megumi nodded and out of habit he started to gather his cursed energy in his stomach.
"Very nasty to deal with. They think they should be taking my place, but that's quite laughable if you ask me."
It was hard for Megumi to follow Sukuna's words, since the giants were nearly in attack range.
"Anyways, I don't feel like fighting. Good luck!"
Megumi could hardly believe the words and his head snapped into the others direction only to look into the face of a very confused Yuji.
There was no time to discuss things, seeing that the first giant swung his too long arm forwards and smashed at the spot where the two men were standing.
"Fuck, fuck, Sukuna you little shit!" Megumi cursed while he continued to avoid getting hit. It took some time and effort, before he was finally standing next to Yuji, who had already been able to land some good hits on one of the curses.
"What's the plan?" Yuji inquired.
"Sukuna left these for us to take care of. It's either them or us. I don't think he's going to show up for help."
Another hand like body part crashed down into the tree next to them and smashed it like an insect.
"Don't worry, we got this!" Yuji nodded towards Megumi, who returned the gesture with a confident smile.
