===========================================================

Unlike the previous times Megumi Tadokoro died, she saw her life flash before her eyes. It'd been quite a while since the last time. She forgot what it was like to feel blinding pain, and then nothing. She had forgotten how it felt like falling forever. She had forgotten what dying felt like. The last time she had died was before Souma died, for good. Before the funeral, where she, Takumi, and Erina cried until they couldn't cry for days. Before Isshiki came out as bisexual, in a world that was less than accepting. Before Polar Star went their ways. Before Isami and Takumi became world-renowned chefs from Italy. Before Hisako and Erina had their daughter. Before Alice and Ryo got married. Before Yuki got her first apartment. Before Hayama started homes for children who were abandoned on the streets. Before Nikiumi started cooking programs for boys and girls who felt vulnerable, or too weak. Before she started working at Yukihira, helping Joichiro out as he got older. Before she made a promise to herself, that she would work hard to keep the restaurant alive and prosperous. The restaurant that her best friend, as well as the person she had madly fallen in love with, would've done anything for. Before her mother had called her home, to tell her that she had to leave to see her dearest friend through the last moments of his life. Before Shinomiya, stopped by Souma's grave, expressing his deepest sorrow, at the fact the world had lost its brightest chef, and he had lost his pupil. Together they laid more sunflowers on his grave, in complete silence. It was funny, the first time she had seen her past mentor was peaceful and sorrow filled. The second time ended in bloodshed, after all, it was he who killed her. She remembered little about how she died, all she knew was she had gotten together with all her friends in the same place, for the first time in ten years. She couldn't have been happier. All was good until she remembered needing to go somewhere, she remembered feeling sad. And bumping into Shinomiya, his face clear as day in her mind, his expression one of regret, she apologized and started to walk away, there was a gunshot. Then there was nothing. However, she could bear the man no hard will, she knew there was a reason why this time felt different than all the others. Her thoughts settled as she felt her descent slow. She was suddenly aware of the feelings of being conscious. Despite being shot quite recently, there was no pain. Judging from her experience, she had finally reached her destination, and would likely be able to leave very soon.
"Tadokoro, Tadokoro, are you awake yet?" she heard a faint voice call. It was odd to use the words "awake" referring to death. Maybe this was another of her awful dreams, and she was being woken up. She groaned, forcing her heavy eyelids to open. Before snapping them shut, even though her vision was blurry she could tell the light was far too bright.
"Huh, the light here is pretty harsh, takes a while to adjust to." the voice was much clearer now. The voice sounded like, no it couldn't be. But her stupid mouth moved before she could stop it. "S-Souma-Kun." Her body was sore as she tried and failed to sit up, settling for wiping her eyes.
"Ding ding. You got it right, it's me Tadokoro." Souma gave a small laugh. As the room became less fuzzy and the light was no longer blinding, her eyes started to water at what she saw next to her. Ignoring how much her aching body complained, she threw herself at him, nearly sending him toppling over. He answered by wrapping his arms around her. "Good to see you too Tadokoro."
The unfairness of everything that had happened spilled out. "Stupid stupid Souma-Kun, you, you had no right, how could you leave them, how could you leave me!" her body was suddenly wracked with sobs, the tears she hadn't shed in years came pooling into Souma's shirt. Her tears were starting to lessen when she felt Souma bury his face in her hair as he cried. Which only made her cry more. Both of them were sobbing messes. When both had finally shed the last of their tears, they ended up rocking side to side. Over his shoulder, she finally got a view of the room they were in. There seemed to be no end, all sides extended farther than she could see. Pure white surrounding them. The ground beneath them was a field, tall grass and lavender bushes everywhere. She realized she had never been here before. She took this as a blessing, she thanked the universe for being able to see Souma once more.
"I think we're more than a little past formality." he gave a small chuckle, "I think we are, Megumi." the way he said her first name made her feel like a lovesick teenager once more.
"I can call you that right?" the smile forming on her lips only grew bigger. "I'm fine as long as you call me that from now on."
"That's a deal then, Megumi," he repeated her name over and over again like he was trying it out. Megumi only burrowed further into his shoulder. She greedily took his scent in, noticing his steady breaths, wanting to never have to let go. Megumi never wanted this moment to end, she would be pleased if she was able to replay it over and over. But she knew that wasn't possible, so she had to ask, "How much time do we have?". To which Souma only chuckled, "We have forever, it's not like I'm going anywhere." she laughed
"No but actually, I don't want to waste any second." To which he frowned, his fingers tangled in her hair. "So you don't know yet."
"Know what?" All signs of urgency left her voice as she grew tired.
"There's no easy way to put this, " his voice was barely a whisper, "Megumi, you've died, permanently this time." Shock overcame her, although she knew it was bound to happen eventually, nothing in the universe was meant to be permanent.
"I always knew I wanted to see you again, but I was hoping it would be a little later." Souma's voice was still soft and gentle, Megumi smiled at his confession, before worry came, "What are they going to do without me?" She muttered to herself. She thought of Yuki-chan who always made Megumi come with her on early morning jogs, who told her about everything and was always there to help Megumi out. She thought of Takumi, who often stopped by Yukihira, she was the first he told about his harbouring feelings for Souma because he trusted her like no one else. Because she was his best friend. She thought of Erina, who said she and Alice were the sisters she never had. How they would exchange their favourite manga's and would laugh about how cheesy some were. She was Erina's only confident other than Hisako. She thought of Joichiro who relied on her to hold up fort when he was gone. She was the one who told him to take it easy when he overworked himself. He and his son were way too alike in that sense. And everyone else, she was leaving them all behind.
"They're fine. They'll carry on just fine." Those words were enough for her to let go completely. She knew things would be hard for them, but they always were. They'll find a way to carry on, they did when Souma died, so why should she worry. Another odd feeling surfaced, only for Megumi to realize the feeling was a relief. She knew it was her time to go, it felt good. Carrying on in her hectic and bizarre life was becoming more burdening. To know she could let it all go and just be was a soothing thought. She felt at peace, she accepted the fact that this was officially the end of the line. Instead of asking Souma what was next, she asked something that has been on her mind since she came.
"Do you know, about how I feel?" her serious expression was met with his clueless one. She smiled once more, he never changed.
"Oh, " his voice was soft as his eyes met hers.
"It took me a while, I didn't know until I died, and that was only because I can read minds. But yeah I do." Her stomach bubbled with the mix of excitement and nervousness, she laughed at how cheesy this all was.
"I feel the same way too." She felt her eyes widen as the world shook.
"Thank you, for waiting. Waiting for me all these years. I love you Souma."
She melted under his gaze, the love she saw in his eyes was enough to make her tear up.
"Can I kiss you?" Unconsciously their faces inched closer.
"Yes please." Megumi had wanted to do this since they were 16. And honestly, it was better than anything she had expected. When they finally came up for air, she pressed their foreheads together, her cheeks red. Megumi then settled in Souma's lap, content. His fingers running through her hair once more. After asking, Souma gently pressed a kiss to the top of her head. Causing her to let out a small sigh. "There's more that way, " Souma gestured towards to behind them. "More people like us. How about I show you around?" Beaming up at Souma, she replied, "Well then, what are we waiting for?" Souma laughed, his hand grasping Megumi's as he helped her up. With that, they headed off.

A/N : I haven't updated in a while so I felt bad neglecting this. I've actually written many things but most of them were absolutely trash. This one was the least bad, so here take it. I guess here I wanted to try something new? Who knows. And yes, I'm currently addicted to SnS, I'm not very far into it however, *cries in season two*. I love how I started SnS knowing SouEri was canon and I ended up shipping SouMegu. I honestly mutiship the heck out of this show. Megumi Tadokoro is a pure bean, thank you for coming to my TED talk. And I would like to apologize for putting you through severe brain damage. The loss of brain cells, will be forever mourned.

As well as credits to my lovely, irritating, sister. Who's absolutely non-sensical dream inspired me to write this mess, thank you.

I hope that you didn't completely despise this oneshot. I apologize for the loss of cognitive function. And I wish you all the best.
