Daniel Ricciardo POV

"I still wonder how you've not thrown in the towel yet. Just get yourself some alcohol in the blood!" Henry threw his arm around my shoulders as we walked down the street.

The sun had already went down. The midnight sky was turning darker for each second that passed by.

"When I see how much this night is about to escalate already, you should be glad you have at least one sober friend," I ruffed his curly brown hair. He threw it back in an attempt to get it away from his eyes — a low hum could be heard coming from the back of his throat.

"Just... Don't hold back because of us. You should enjoy yourself too," He patted my back.

Carter, who came up with the brilliant idea of taking out so-called 'party' furter than the dinner table, obviously didn't read about the bar well enough when he suggested this place. The long life of people waiting for their turn to enter the bar, went on around the corner of the building. It would take at least an hour or two for us to enter the building if we got in line now. I didn't even dare to find out how much further it went down the other street either. The security guards slowly let people in every age range in, group by group.

"Let me handle this," Michael told us and walked over to one of the men suited in dress. It took him about five minutes before they both let us in.

"How the fuck did you do that, Man?!" Hudson and Carter were ruffing his hair. He managed to squeeze his way out from their intense clinging.

"To be honest, I have no idea." We all laughed out and walked through the entrance. "I just told him that we were..." His voice faded away. I couldn't hear him over the loud music.

The place was exploding with people everywhere. Lights from the floor, in all different kinds of colors, blinked and shined through the room. The roof was pretty high and the air was surprisingly not too bad, considering the number of people that were in the room. I looked up and noticed the other two floors with even more people. The opening in the middle was big and you could see out the window on the top.

I was dragged toward the bar by the guys when the sudden change of music cough my attention. I didn't recognize the song at first, but the beat seemed awfully familiar. The drums and rocking pop genre songs, circulated around in the room.

Midnight Sky by Miley Cyrus.

The song was all up on the carts in Australia around a year ago. I remember myself bobbing to the song at that time when I got ready for the races.

What surprised me the most, was when the first line came on. Someone was singing it live. Her voice was incredible. She hit the right notes at the right time.

It obviously wasn't Miley herself that was singing, but the girl really did a great job of impersonating her voice. I felt myself getting chills down the back and my hair started to rise on my arms.

I got back to reality as I felt Hudson's hand on the ones on my back, singing to the song. "Let's get closer," he shouted over the loud noises. I nodded and followed him through the crowd.

I felt the glances and eyes of the girls that I passed, moving in deeper onto the glamming dance floor. Hudson stopped when we got closer to a round table, somewhere close to the middle.

The girl seemed to have the time of her life up there, where she was swinging around and singing into the microphone in her hand while rocking her body to the beat. Her eyes were closed and her long hair spun around her head when she moved. She clearly got a lot of attention — people were already crowding around the table, singing and dancing with her to the chorus.

"The Midnight Sky is the road I'm takin'
Head high up in the clouds"

The beat dropped and everyone shouted out the lines with her — I even felt Hudson moving beside me, definitely singing along with the blonde girl. I felt myself getting stiff by the situation — I was literally having dinner with the guys and talking about anything and everything two hours ago. And now I was in this rainbow-light-filled room with hundreds of Parisians, vibing to this random girl. I even bet Michael was shouting out the words from the back of the bar, remembering him playing and singing to the exact same song some months ago, on a Mic Game the boys and I had fun with.

I looked around, trying to spot Hudson between all the drunk people, but with no luck. People moved away, making space for the girl that was getting down from her height. The beat reached its bridge part and I couldn't hear the drums or guitar anymore. The retro piano beat filled the room with tones and she walked in on the open place in my direction.

Everybody around me moved backward. I was about to too, but when I felt all the eyes on me, I stiffened even more. I couldn't even move my legs and that's when I heard the voice right in front of me.

"I was born to run, I don't belong to anyone, Oh no
I don't need to be loved by you"

She pointed at me. The crowd around was clapping and whistling at us.

Her hand reached up to my face, but she ended up slowly stroking my shoulder instead.
"Fire in my lungs, can't bite the devil on my tough, you know"

They were screaming, "Don't need to be loved by you"

She pushed my shoulder in a playful way, making me take a step back.
"See his hands on my waist, though you'd never be replaced"

Her eyes were glinting from the light, shining down from the mood over us. Her body, in any other color you could imagine, coming from the disco-glowing-rainbow floor under us. She was awfully close to my face as she moved along with me after her push.

The crowd was still screaming with us, and even louder in the parts where she didn't,
"Oh, you know it's true"

She lifted the microphone with a smile on her lips, "Yeah!"

She twirled around — her hair flowing after her,
"That I was born to run,
I don't belong to anyone, Oh no
I don't need to be loved by you"
