Pandemic 2020

It's been almost a year since everything changed. Though medyo lumuluwag na ang mga patakaran, hindi ko pa rin makakaila na ang tahimik ng mga daan 'di tulad ng dati.

Ala sais nanaman ng umaga at hindi nanaman ako nakatulog ng gabi.

Uminom ako sa iced coffee na hawak ko. Yeah, iced coffee sa umaga. Naging routine ko na to. I know it's unhealthy but I can barely last the day without my coffee. Bumalik na 'ko sa loob ng kwarto ko at sinindihan ang laptop ko. I opened my zoom and laid down on my bed. If I'm being honest, wala naman ako matutunan dito. I have the attention span of a goldfish tapos online pa ang klase. I read the slide on my screen.

I sighed. Nahiga ako sa kama ko at sinubukan makinig.

"Okay class, please listen carefully, isa to sa trickiest system in the human body. Let's start first with the layers of the heart. We have 3 which is the Endocardium, Myocardium, and Pericardium. The innermost layer is the Endocardium which lines the inner chambers and valves of the heart. Yung Myocardium naman ay ang actual contractile ng......" tila ba pahina ng pahina ang nadidinig ko, and in just minutes, I dozed off to dreamland.

Matapos ang dalawang oras, nagising ako na nagpapaalam na ang aming prof. I don't know why but I always seem to wake up on time sa tuwing may klase kami.

Lumabas ako ng kwarto para humanap ng makakain. There I saw my little sister munching on some chicken nuggets.

"Ayles? Let ate have some please?" Tinignan muna ako ng matagal ng kapatid ko bago niya ako sapilitang bigyan ng isa na kinagat niya na bago iabot. Tumawa ako at kinain ito bago niya pa bawiin.

Kumuha ako agad ng tubig at iniabot sakanya ito.

"Drink water after you eat okay? That's salty it's bad for you if you don't drink a lot of water after" Tumango siya at umusog para patabihin ako sa upuan.

"Ate, I miss going out and seeing Yibby and Vinya" she pouted, referring to her friends na anak ng kaibigan ni mama.
" When will the pandemic end? Saka, bakit ikaw nakakalabas na?"

" I don't know baby, makakalabas ka na 'rin soon pag pwede ka na mabakunahan. Na-inject na kasi si ate nung pang fight ng virus. That's why I'm allowed to go out " I tried to explain to my five year old bundle of joy.

I got vaccinated a month ago along with my parents kaya nakakalabas ako paminsan-minsan. I feel bad for Ayles. It's scary because we don't know how long this may last, I don't want her to miss a big chunk of her childhood because of this life-threatening virus.

" We'll call them for now Ayles tapos laro na lang muna kayo nung Roblox" she smiled and nodded with enthusiasm

As promised, I accompanied her sa kwarto nila. Ayles still sleeps with mom and dad. I asked mom to call her friend so she can talk to her friends. I watched Ayles as they screamed and played, happy that she still manages to enjoy her time. Naluha ako ng bahagya. Seeing her happy despite the situation made me feel hopeful.
