The next few months passed by peacefully with hanging out with Natsu, the simple bloodletting, and then at night learning what she could about jutsu and chakra from books and corresponding noted with Sayako.
It was almost a full year after she got reincarnated and all of Chikako's memories were back. There were a few holes here and there, but for the most part she remembered everything.
Her Mom's death, the Uchiha massacre, the Kogarashi clan, Gaara, the Akatsuki, Jiraiya, the leaf villager and her friends there. It was getting harder to keep her innocent and happy-go-lucky personality now that she had her memories back. Chichia was getting more and more suspicious by the day. Natsu was the only one who knew about her recovered memories. He enjoyed hearing stories about her past life and her friends. In fact, he was jealous about how close she was to the people in the leaf village, while he wasn't even respected by his own parents.
He often found himself wondering what it would be life to live in the leaf village. From what he's heard Naruto was a very determined person, something he never was. Maybe Naruto could help him with finding his goals? Sasuke and Itachi were made out to sound like broody but loving people. Based on how much time Seibara spent talking about them, he figured they were important to her. Almost as important as her cousin, Kakashi Hatake. Her eyes always seemed to kind and loving as she retold stories about her days together and the mindless mission they went on.
The only thing he didn't enjoy was listening to her storied about her life before she lived in the leaf village. He wanted to know everything he could about his best friend, but hearing the terrible things she went through, and knowing he can't do anything about it really filled him with pain. Chikako even noticed he was becoming more protective of her after she spoke about the Kogarashi clan.
Chikako made sure to keep out a good majority of the gruesome details, but it seemed the little she did talk about was enough to affect Natsu. He had a truly kind heart that wants what's best for the people close to him. She didn't mind his newfound enthusiasm about protecting her. In fact, she thought it was quite cute. It reminded her about Naruto and Kakashi a bit.
With the addition of her old memories, she regained her knowledge about her Justus and chakra. Through trial and error, she found out she no longer has the ability to create things using her kekki genkai, and without her thirteen tailed beasts her chakra threshold was very low. Well low compared to her old abilities. Sayako was amazed with the amount of chakra she could control and use when she began teaching Chikako.
However, today would be the end to her peaceful days.
Chichia lead to Chikako to the bloodletting temple and over to the rose. Due to all of the deep gashes on her one arm, they had to move to her other arm making both of them clumsy. Some days she even had a hard time eating due to the heaviness of the utensil.
Harnessing her physical strength had been her goal for a while, but with the loss of so much blood, it made her hands unsteady and weak at times. There were a few times where her hands just went completely limp and stopped working for a bit. Natsu would graciously massage them until she could move them again.
Even with the numerous complaints they both made about her condition, Chichia ignored her symptoms. Due to this and the fact that Sayako would find the best healing ointments for her, she had gained Chikako's trust and it seemed it went both ways. Sayako was also aware of her regained memories as of the day before.
As the blood rushed down her arm from the unusually deep cut Chichia began speaking which was also unlike her.
"I would like to see you and Natsu after the bloodletting. Once your wounds are taken care of and you are dressed, please meet me in my office." Chikako nodded and as she began getting dizzy, the bloodletting was officially done for the day.
"I have a bad feeling" she told Natsu as he carried her to her room. Natsu just nodded his head and opened the door. When he put her body down, Chikako activated her sharingan and looked around her room. A few things were out of place. Someone had searched her room. After letting Natsu know about it, thy continued on cleaning the new gash and getting Chikako redressed.
The two of them made the short journey to Lady Chichia's office, however before they could step foot into the building Natsu was pulled away from her and out of sight.
"Natsu? Natsu! NATSU!" She called. Not wanting to reveal herself, she ran into Lady Chichia's office only to find she wasn't there. In fact, no one was. Chikako began running around the village asking for help, but they acted like she wasn't even there.
A blood curdling scream from Natsu met Chikako's ears. Her body froze in fear before she decided to just find him herself. It sounded like the scream came from the forest to the South, so she ran as fast as she could without seeming like a trained ninja.
It wasn't fast enough. Another scream from Natsu's mouth hit Chikako, so right when she hit the woods area she took off as fast as she could. It took a few more minutes and to many of Natsu's screams before she could find him. When she did her heart sank.
Natsu was beat up and stabbed in multiple places. He was in bad shape. It took her to long to get there. Two ninjas shrouded in black were standing over him with one holding him in place and the other doing the damage.
With a few hand signs a large ball of fire was in the palm of one of the rouge ninjas. Knowing she didn't have any tools to stop it Chikako raced over to the male only to be kicked away. The fire made contact with Natsu and he yelled in pain. Not wanting her only friend to be burned alive, her instincts kicked in and she used a water jutsu to put out the flames. Then using her wind card jutsu, Chikako knocked the two men away from Natsu. The two of them fled, leaving only Natsu and Chikako in the woods.
Her bandaged hands found either side of Natsu's head and set it in her lap.
"It's alright. I'll save you. I'll heal you. Just hold on" She whispered words of reassurance to the sweet boy groaning from the pain in his lap. Her hands began glowing a green color and slowly, but surely, the burns and stab wounds were going away.
"So, it's true. I knew there was something amiss about the way you were acting. It seems you had regained your past memories. This is a problem" Chichia walked out of the woods with Sayako by her side.
"Girls restrain the Seibara and throw her in the Dark Room. I will deal with her personally later" The old woman ordered. Sayako was smirking from beside her grandmother. Her mismatched eyes glared at the black-haired female as she was being dragged away by none other than the people who hurt Natsu.
A bag was thrown over Chikako's head and she was dragged to who knows where before being thrown roughly to the ground. Using this opportunity, she tried to pull the bag off of her head and fight back, but instead was met with her hands going limp and getting kicked in the stomach. Blood splattered the inside of Chikako's mask as she was forced to her knees. Her legs were shackled to the floor and her arms were pulled out and also chained with them in a spread position.
The bag was taken off of her head once she was completely restrained and a metal gag was forced into her mouth. As the two females left, the door closed behind them leaving Chikako in pitch black.
