"I won't miss you at all."
"Me neither. I hope you die."
Axel and I break away from our hug after some minutes. Brooke hugs me next and I plop my head on her shoulder. "I'll miss you, though." She laughs, "I guess I'll miss you, too, then."
When we pull away, Brooke sighs. "You're graduating from Carleon, right?"
"Of course I am."
"You better," Axe folds his arms over his chest. "I don't think the people here like you very much."
I shrug. "Can't agree. Can't deny, either. But like, no fucks given from my side. Just some months and I'll be outta here anyway."
The bus honks, and Brooke shoots the driver a middle finger. "Can't you not go?"
"Cheer up, girl. Just some months more, that is, if I don't die."
"Why are you even traveling in a bus? Where's Gray? Why aren't you with her–"
"Take a fucking breathe," I sling my bag. "Gray's already gone. She'll be there when I reach, I guess."
Brooke tolls her eyes and Axel shakes his head at his cousin. "You don't have to hate her for everything."
"Yeah, right–"
"I gotta go now," I interrupt them. "Will call ya when I get home. Mwah."
Without staying anymore, I walk past them and run to the bus. Entering it, I see Savanna smile at me.
"Isn't Trish sitting with you?"
She shakes her head as I take a seat next to her. "She'll come later with her friends. They've booked a car."
You're a friend, I want to say. But I don't.
"I saw Grace in Delara," she starts again. "Was she with you?"
"Uh, no? I was with her?"
Savanna looks at me with her brows slightly raised. I try to find an excuse, but stop panicking when she mutters an 'okay' and goes back to rummaging her backpack.
My phone vibrates in my hand.
Gray
When will you be home?
Idk
R u alrdy there?No. Will be.
"Our English assignment is complete," Sav informs. "Well, almost. If you can come by today we can write it up."
"Today?" I cheack the time. 8:12.
"It's 8 now. I guess we'll be back home by 2 pm. You can come at..." Savanna trails off, frowning slightly to herself. "6 pm, maybe. Is that fine with you?"
"Sure," I shrug. When she doesn't say anything, I plug in my earphones.
Sometime in the middle, when I'm humming to 'One Last Time', I feel Savanna's eyes on me. I turn to look at her and she holds my gaze.
"Are you an only child? Of your parents, I mean."
"I wouldn't know," I shrug. "They never told me of anyone who came outta the same womb as me."
Savanna chuckles but the smile leaves her face as soon as it came. She looks at her phone and sighs.
"You're lucky." I hear her say.
