Winter stirred in the king size bed, light mumbling rumpled from her soft pink lips.
"Winter baby, wake up." Emerson said softly as he stroked her cheek with the back of his tan hand. Her face nuzzled into the warmth of his palm.
"Nuuu." She grumbled and turned around. Emerson gave up and let her rest for a bit more. He truly wanted the best for her in everything.
Emerson was planning to take Winter with him to his office in the city. Entering the master bathroom, he started a bath for her.
Winter stirred again and stretched her sleepy limbs out. Her hands rubbed her pretty eyes aggressively. Emerson shook his head as he made his way to her side.
"Don't rub your eyes so hard." He said sternly as he wrapped his long fingers around her wrist sitting her upright.
She nodded meekly.
"Sorry." Winter mumbled.
"Never mind that now, come I ran you some water so you can bathe. I want to bring you to work with me. I think you'll enjoy it." Emerson explained as he ushered her to the bathroom.
Turning before she made it to the bath, she pouted at him.
Emerson watched as she raised a little finger and tapped her cheek.
Good thing he understood. Emerson placed a light feathery kiss to her now rosy cheek. She smiled and rushed into the bathroom.
His heart had never felt so warm in his entire life. He knew he loved Winter, it was so present.
After Winter had dragged herself out of the warm safe bed and ran towards the bath. She slipped in, her muscles instantly relaxing. She wondered what Emerson's office would be like.
After the bath, she pulled a pretty spring dress on. The light color contrasted perfectly against her pale skin.
She hoped Emerson would think she was pretty.
Emerson was making the two of them breakfast, he made sure she had enough to eat ever since they had finalized their relationship.
Deep down they both knew something was there, blinded by their own past, they deprived themselves of those feelings.
"Winter baby!" Emerson yelled to get her attention from downstairs, but failed to realize she was right behind him.
She giggled as they sat down for breakfast. Winter had never felt so loved and safe. Just in the presence of Emerson.
"You look so pretty, you ready baby." He said grabbing the paperwork he was sorting through.
Winter flushed a pretty pink.
"You look really pretty too- I mean you look hot- no! Handsome!" Winter was embarrassed at the way she stumbled over her words.
Why did he make her so nervous?
"I love you, let's go now." He had responded, a soft pink tinge adorned his tan skin. He had never blushed in his life, what was she doing to him?
They stood together as the elevator lifted upwards, Winter grabbed onto Emerson's arm as the elevator jerked a bit.
"It's okay." He assured her.
Winter took in her surroundings as they walked through a tiled hallway, mirrors hung on the walls of the hallway.
The golden lights felt expensive, and it scared her a little.
Soon a dark mahogany door was in front of them. Emerson let go of her small hand and reached into his dress pants pocket. His long tan figures pulled out a single key and inserted it into the lock. Jiggling it a bit the sound of the door being unlock echoed through the silent hallway.
"I apologize for it being messy, there is just so many things I study. It tends to become a bit chaotic." Emerson explained as he watched Winter in awe.
Winter was breathless, she thought the library had been an impression sight.
"It's so beautiful, I have no words." Her voice was sensitive and Emerson took her hand. Leading her to sit in one of the leather chairs.
The cool leather made her jerk away from the chair. Her exposed skin was chilled in the office already.
She wouldn't complain though.
Winter didn't have to say anything. Emerson watched as she stood beside the chair.
"Let me find you a blanket or maybe a jacket. The windows in here are barely insulated. It's still early it'll warm up, I promise." Emerson's voice was warm and Winter nodded.
"I'm fine, it okay." She whispered softly grabbing his hand stopping his movement.
"Let me take care you babydoll." Emerson stated as he made his way to a small corner.
Soon Winter was cuddled into a warm quilt in his oversized chair. She was laughing at how serious Emerson's face was and Emerson was being distracted by the angel he had decided to bring.
"You aren't coming again." He stated laughing with her.
Winter gasped jokingly, then she pouted.
"Why not! It's so much fun. I like watching you work." Winter stifled a giggle. Emerson watched as the girl- his girl babbled about anything under the sun.
Lunch had come and Emerson had not taken a break. He watched as the girl slept on his chair.
His thoughts were interrupted when a growling sounded throughout the office. His eyebrows furrowed as he stood up. Walking towards Winter he brushed her hair out of her face.
"Wake up babydoll," he said quietly. Winter's eyes fluttered open and a smile graced her angelic face.
Her lips were parted slightly, and Emerson leaned down for a quick peak. She quickly responded wanting a longer kiss.
Emerson tusked at her. "Nope! Let's get some lunch in that tummy, baby." He reprimanded her and she pouted.
She'd would get the kiss eventually.
They ate in the office and Emerson made sure she had enough. He wouldn't let her go hungry, Emerson knew that he would do anything for Winter.
The rest of the day was spent with lots of kisses and a lot less work done. It hadn't even bothered him that he didn't do anything. Her being there was all that matter.
They now were laid out on a thick blanket in the garden. Emerson pulled Winter close, she let out a breath.
The stars were incredibly visible, Emerson took his time pointing out different constellations and patterns in the night sky.
He loved the way she would light up at the different names.
"I love you so much Emerson, I don't understand how we found each other. I think it had to be fate. There's no other way, but I'm glad. I don't think I could live without you." Winter had teared up when reminding him how much she loved him.
"Baby shhh, I know. I love you extremely much as well. If not more." He felt her shake her head in his chest. "No. Listen, I found you, I'm not letting you go. Ever. You hear me Winter." Emerson had whispered, but his tone was laced with upmost seriousness.
Winter nodded against his chest again.
The universe had its way of giving and taking. But if Emerson had any control, he wouldn't let anyone or anything take his soul away. She was his soul in every way. Every breath.
