Episode 05 - The decisive training. The secrets of Ponzu! [Ponzu Saga]

   The portals room is a mystical room that gives anyone the ability to travel to all corners of the universe almost instantaneously. Because of its dangerous potential, Ponzu, the former Kami-sama of the planet Tazban and now master of that room, decided to recruit a helper to assist him in guarding this place from evil threats.
     Ponzu was a small blue alien (smaller than an average human) with ears in the shape of holes, he was also bald with an head extension on his forehead and a tail that came from the back of his head and that he wrapped around his neck like a scarf. He wore a pink blouse with sleeves, brown trousers and gray shoes with red socks. Ponzu also had a halo on his head due to his death by an attack of the Saiyans, but in spite of what would be expected he chosed a Saiyan named Letuck to assist him as the guardian of the Room of the Portals.
     After five years of intense training on several planets Letuck was stronger than ever, but that was not the same for his appearance. Since he died at the age of 11 his body halted the growing process making him forever young while dead.
     Letuck found himself training on an unbearably hot, lava-filled planet called Enka, where he raced the planet guided by his master. In this place there was more volcanoes than plane ground and occasionally a new unexpected explosion could catch them by surprise. Some of those explosions were so powerful that you could see lava getting out of the planet from outer space, that happened even regardless of the gravity being 10x greater than than from planet Earth.
     Letuck was flying at high speed, dodging the noxious gases around him, lucky to not have been catch in any of the previous four laps he'd done on the planet until then.
     The heat was intense and the saiyan was drenched with sweat. There were also strong hot winds pushing him from side to side, but he stood firm in his path, though tired, he was close to finishing the final lap.
     An explosion happened right in front of Letuck and the winds pushed him quickly toward it, so he dives closer to the ground and fired a blue energy ball stopping the explosion for the excat time for him to passes over it. After there was an explosion with a handful of lava being hurled to the skies.
     Right at his sign there was at least three more explosions happening and Letuck repeats the energy ball process and, as he advances, more and more explosions happened. This abruptly increase of explosions could only mean one thing.
     And Letuck was already familiar with it.
     Giant lava worms.
     Near the great sea of ​​lava there was a nest of lava worms on the surface. Those were giant creatures that fed on the nutrients of lava, expelling jets of fire through holes all over the body while doing so. They were unpredictable and the danger increased if the worms thought they were being threatened by introders starting their defense move surronding the "invasor" and smashing it with pressure and jets of fire. Letuck discovered their tecnique on his 3rd lap when he narrowly escaped alived for coming too close.

     At that moment, a huge worm erruptes from under the earth launched by a volcano explosion, right in front of him. It was expelling fire through its pores as if challenging the saiyan to go through that stretch, even if these creatures showed no sign of intelligence.

     Like all good saiyan, Letuck accepted the challenge and, despite the fire, he bashed the worm, lauching it tens of thousands more meters away colliding with other group of worms. Then he continued flying above the nest, dodging the eruptions of fire with amazing speed. His master said that Letuck had to complete the lap by flying as close to the ground as possible, which also meant that he had to move very close to the eruptions and the lava worms.
     A lava bubble bursts near the saiyan, although he shielded and dodged it by going to the left the landed on something super hot. Quickly he gets up and realizes his tail was on fire. It hurted so much and he tried to blow the flames away energetically, holding it with just one arm. His left arm remained curled over his chest enveloped by a blue energy sparkling since the moment he started the laps.
     Wiping the fire away, Letuck prepared to fly again, but something moved behind him. The thing where he landed was, in fact, the horn of a huge black beetle that now is coming all out of the ground right before him. It was not a common hercules-beetle, for it had humanoid forms. With no time to led it to be examined the insect delivered an attack with its huge horns from the left.
     Letuck jumped in the air scaping the slash so to be pursuited by the beetle's fists and kicks in the air. The saiyan also dodges with enormous ease and drop two small spheres of blue energy on the beetle.
     He turns around and protects himself by using its big shells on his back. Nevertheless, he opens them and two wings of fire emerged from his back giving him enormous speed and after taking a spin in the air, he flies quickly towards Letuck, preparing his horns for an assault.
     Letuck puts himself into flying and is followed by the beetle who, with an unusual aerial skill, doesn't seem to loose sight of the saiyan no matter what he did. Letuck kept swinging in the air, trying to get some distance and also shot blue energy balls at the beetle, yet not working againts the crushing power of these movable horns.
     Increasing his speed more and more, Letuck realized that his pursuer was approaching much faster than he could escape. So he made a decision to stop and grabbed the horns while they collided in mid-air. Letuck felt the enormous force of those horns who constantly tried to crush him, but he processeded grabbing it and after a full turn tossed the beetle against the lava river.      After that the saiyan was rubbing and blowing his hands and feet because the beetle was very hot to be touched.
     A big eruption happened in the lava river, torrents of magmatic material were throwed in the air, and the beetle was in the middle of them launching himself at an ultrasonic speed towards the saiyan. It almost hit Letuck, but he dodged to the side at the last second.
     The beetle kept flying above for some distance before halting, then he turned, aiming at Letuck from up there, and launched himself by an explosion of flames coming out of his back gaining an astonishing speed wich only increased by the planet's gravity. It was transformed into a incandescent destructive ball.
     Letuck braced himself, stepped into a position and charged an energy in his right hand. He make the shot when the beetle was already less than 30 meters away from him. His wave of energy stopped him from proceding and pushed the enraged beetle back, thus the former responded releasing more flames from his back shortening the distance between them as he gained more force and speed. Letuck only option was to use the left hand which he was helding something. He extended the hand still with the fist closed doubling the energy he was unleashing, recovering the lost distance and gaining even more very quickly:
     -- Get lost! -- Letuck shouted, increasing the size of the energy wave with more power.
The beetle couldn't keep up with that power got throwed above more and more until it disappears quickly in the airs. The flaming creature was now somewhere in the coldness of the space.
     By now, Letuck could see his master on the horizon and continued to fly at speed, still dodging a few jets of fire on the way before arriving. He landed on that tiny piece of floating rock his master was waiting and he standed, still breathless, to keep his composture.
     -- I done it, master! I flew five laps around this planet and used my energy to prevent this cube from melting -- said Letuck, opening his left hand showing the ice cube covered by a blue energy.
     Ponzu examined the cube.
     -- Very well -- he give its back -- You can rest now.
     Letuck sits with please on that little piece of land and throw the ice away, which turns into steam way before it touches the ground.
     -- This training is useless, master. -- he said frustrated -- I already mastered 10x gravity and it is more useful to me to learn how to unleash more energy than to control it.
     -- Letuck, you have become very strong, -- said Ponzu -- so, it is very dangerous for you to not control your own power.
     -- But master, you said that in a fight the most important thing is how much energy you can shoot. -- He stood up -- That's why I have to become even stronger.
     -- You're right, -- he looks at him out of the corner of his eye, -- but you must be careful with your strength not to cause the destruction of your enemies and also of your friends.
     -- If my opponent can not defeat me, then I have to beat him. Only the strongest win the fights!
     -- There's still plenty for you to learn, Letuck.
     "I should be more careful on the things I blab to this saiyan, it seems like he really hears them" thought Ponzu concerned.
     Letuck lay with his back to the floor, still panting. Ponzu waits and turns to him:
     -- Still tired, Letuck?
     -- I'm good, master. I just need about 10 minutes so I can take another lap.
     -- That's enough training on this planet for today. -- He got a chalk out of his case -- Come over, I have another type of training to teach you.
     After leaving the planet Enka, Ponzu and Letuck go to one that is similar to Earth, with green fields, mountains and animals in the plains.
     -- Master Ponzu, -- Letuck reacts -- this planet has a lot of animals, it's not a good training place for us.
     -- This is the perfect planet. -- Ponzu paused admiring the view of the planet. -- This is where I developed my supreme technique.
     -- What supreme technique, Master Ponzu? -- He questions without hiding his curiosity.
     -- It is called the super special, infallible and unbeatable technique of the great Ponzu. -- He finished with a pose laughing triumphantly.
     -- That's a big name for a technique. -- Letuck scratched his head.
     -- You might be right. Maybe I should rethink the name.
     -- Master, what kind of technique is this? Could you show me?
     -- We can do better than that, Letuck. Let's fight and you will be able to see this technique in action! -- continued Ponzu. -- Not even my former apprentice knew about this technique.
     Letuck was hooked up, but was apprehensive due to the power difference between the two. He surpassed his master some while ago.
     -- Because of the animals we'll fight only in the ground and with no energy attacks -- declared Ponzu -- And I want you to pay close attention to my movements and also to the animals around you.
     -- All right, master. -- Letuck stands in a fighting position. Ponzu follows him.
     -- Show me what you got! -- Ponzu commands -- Hit me!
     Letuck prepares to attack and when is about to hit him...
     -- Hang on!! -- says Ponzu by surprise.
     Letuck stops his blow in the air and Ponzu uses this opportunity to attack him with a punch.
     -- Never trust your opponent, Letuck!
     Resolute, Letuck defends his master's blow, but he starts to move once again.
     -- Elephant asking for a ride! -- Ponzu announces and strikes again.
     With this unexpected attack, Ponzu uses the side of his body and flings Letuck away against a rock, breaking it.
     -- "Dang, he caught me by surprise" -- the saiyan thought as he stood up. -- "But now I know I won't need to go easy on Master Ponzu"
     Letuck flew back to where they were. Again they stand in a fighting stance.
     -- Let's restart -- Ponzu announced.
     Letuck starts the second round with an avalanche of punches and kicks against Ponzu who did his best to dodge all those quick attacks.
     -- Eagle watching Television!
     Ponzu dodges a kick in the head.
     -- Grasshopper eating Pepper!
     He dodges several punches by taking a few steps back.
     -- Crocodile using parachute!
     Ponzu jumps out of a low kick.
     -- Leopard rolling in the grass!
     He falls to the ground, but keeps dodging.
     -- Giraffe firing a cannon!
     He throws himself in the air and...
     -- Hippo wearing an umbrella!
     Finishing his defenses, Ponzu strikes from above and hits the saiyan. Both fall to the ground.
     -- Incredible, Master Ponzu! -- Letuck says as he gets up quickly -- This technique is very powerful.
     -- Enough! -- Ponzu yells, panting on the floor. -- I can't take it anymore. I need to rest!
     -- Wow, it seems your technique takes a lot from the one who uses it.
     -- That's not it! -- Ponzu replies -- I'm out of shape!
     Ponzu gets up and wipes the sweat from his face.
     -- I need to get back home. I'm sure my muscles will be sore tomorrow.
     -- But what about training? Will you teach me more of your animal technique?
     -- This technique has no secret. -- the blue alien says rubbing his shoulders -- If you saw me using it, you sure can use it too, Letuck.
     -- Maybe, I guess -- he said sluggishly.
     Ponzu takes a chalk from his case and draws a portal into a rock that takes them back to his house. From there, Ponzu retires to his room leaving Letuck alone.
     It's been a long time since Letuck was not alone without his master to watch over his actions or over the chalks, so he headed for the retricted chalks room (where there were the chalks to locations beyond the structured universe such as the Death Zone, Hyperbolic Time Chamber, the Sugoroku Space, etc.).
     He took a purple and black chalk and drew a circle on the floor. A blank black hole was formed and from inside comes out a purple energy that permeates the entire circumference of it while a black mass rises from the opening and begins to take form and some colors appears to it.
     Before Letuck there was another Letuck, with the exact same shapes and clothes, but with a slightly lighter skin, purple and black Gi compared to the pink and brown Gi uniform the original was wearing.
     -- It's been a long time since we fought. I became much stronger and learned a new technique from Master Ponzu. -- Letuck continued -- This time I will defeat you!
     Without a reaction, the clone remained quiet where he was.
     Letuck flies towards his clone and struck a swift attack with his right fist. The clone defended himself by crossing both arms against his chest, yet the force of the impact was felt on the house.
     The clone threw himself back and, with his hands, charged and fired a purple energy. Through the proximity, Letuck protected himself in the right time, but the impact hurls him to a wall:
     "I have to take this fight outise here or we're going to destroy the house" -- The saiyan thinks as he sees things breaking.
     Letuck opens and exits through one of the windows, then his counterpart follows him making a hole in the ceiling.
     "I'll have to explain this to Master Ponzu somehow" he thought quickly, then he dodges a kick coming right to his head.
     Letuck counter-struck with a punch, which was dodged. Then he turned around unleashing a roundhouse kick on his opponent's back, but it was dodged again.
     The clone threw itself up into the air and dropped a flying kick into the saiyan's face. But he did did not counted to Letuck grabbing his legs and throwing him away after successive turns in the air. The clone stopped in mid-air and they stared at each other.
     Letuck flee again for another shot and his clone followed him in the air, both of them collided and began to exchange blows. Letuck striking an avalanche of punches against the other, then protected himself from a side kick and tries to swoop a punch in the other's stomach.
     All Letuck's blows do not hit the target, but he persisted, dodging a punch from his clone, he disappears in the air and reappears behind his opponent kicking and making him fly away. Then Letuck quickly leaps at him and hits him again with a punch. Changing the direction in opposite to the one the clone was thrown, the saiyan charges and fires an energy ball, hitting him and making some smoke.
     When it dissipated the clone was no longer there. Letuck glanced left and right searching for him, calculating that his attack could not be enough to eliminate him.
     An energy ball is fired at Letuck, however he notices it in time and repels it in another direction, colliding with the inner layer of the bubble, exploding.
     Letuck extends one of his arms and fires blue energy beams from his fingers at his opponent. The clone copies its movements and fires purple beams that intercept the blues in the air.
     "Damn, he sure is stronger than last time"
     Letuck screams and charges his power, increasing his aura around and fires a great energy ball with both hands towards his opponent, but the later disappears in the air and reappears right in front of him, hitting the saiyan with a punch, beginning a sequence of strikes, ending with an elbow in the stomach.
     This last blow made him moan in pain for a moment, and his clone watched him without reaction. Letuck quickly gets up and shoots a energy ball at his clone, but he deflects it and strikes back with another ball in the chest of the saiyan.
     When the ball bursts, Letuck is hurled against the solid bubble that surrounds his master's small handful of earth. He recovers, wiping the blood from his mouth.
     -- We have the same strength, -- claims Letuck -- my only chance is to use the technique that Master Ponzu taught me!
     Below and far from his opponent, Letuck shouts "Fish Changing Clothes" and disappears in the air, reappearing on the back of his clone, striking him with a kick and throwing him away.
     Then Letuck follows him flying at high speed and declares another attack "Cat playing flute", spinning in the air over his opponent and kicking him, then flying in the opposite direction that of his clone was thrown, he prepares another blow with energy and shoot:
     -- I got you now! Letuck watched as his blow hit the target and explode.
     There was still smoke when his opponent flew off against Letuck, attempting to hit him with a blow that was dodged by the side, but it did not stop the clone's flight that continued the path and was able to attack with a jerk coming from behind him, throwing Letuck away in a blow very similar to one he had already been hit earlier.
     "It can not be, this is the "Elephant asking for a ride" that Ponzu used earlier on me! This bastard can also use the techniques I just learned!" Letuck thinks, standing in the air.
     The saiyajin is surprised once again when his clone appears very quickly in front of him and sends a powerful kick in his side throwing him with force against the house of Ponzu, destroying great part of the construction. Letuck is covered in debris.
     -- Saiyan! -- yells Ponzu, who had just woken up and headed for the main room. -- What did you do to my house!
     Then the clone lands on the debris and stands there.
     -- What do you think you are doing! - Ponzu goes to where that other Letuck was and shouts at his face -- My house is not a place to train, how many times have I told you this!
     Without a reaction that other Letuck turns the face and stare at Ponzu, then it morphs getting the same look as of Ponzu.
     -- It's you again! -- exclaims Ponzu, before getting punched in the face and falling back.
     The Ponzu clone approaches its original self and, was ready to launch another attack on him, when Letuck came out from under the debris and rubbles and fires a ball of energy at his old clone.
     A big explosion happened and after the dust gets down Ponzu's clone was still standing. The saiyan was about to prepare a new attack when the clone began to move strangely, like a jelly.
     The motions become wierder until the clone turns completely black and dissolves like liquid on the floor. Letuck and Ponzu look at that scene. Then a white blaze comes from nowhere.
     As soon they could see again Letuck goes to his master and helps him out:
     -- What was all that, saiyan! Were you trying to open the dimensional prison portal!? -- Ponzu paused to wipe the dust off his clothing and continued to yell at Letuck. -- Don't you know it is a very dangerous place!
     -- I did not know, Master Ponzu. -- Letuck said, closing his eyes as he suffered the old torture of screaming.
     -- And look at my house now. Totally destroyed! It's going to take years for me to fix this by my own.
     As he spoke, another piece of the roof subsided.
     -- You'll have to fix it, saiyan -- Ponzu continued.
     -- What kind of dangers are those, master? -- Letuck asks, ignoring his future duty.
     Ponzu looks curiously at Letuck, almost forgetting he has a saiyan's blood.
     -- Dangers beyond imagination. There is the lair of disgusting monsters full of claws, thorns, with thousands of eyes and tentacles. They have such overwhelming power that they can destroy the entire universe in the blink of an eye. -- At that moment a blue butterfly passes near Ponzu's back.
     -- Wow! I will train and be stronger and someday I will defeat them. -- Letuck said confidently.
     -- Don't you hear anything I said? -- said Ponzu heatedly -- They are very dangerous and they are also all imprisoned. AND they should not be disturbed!
     -- By no one, master?
     -- No one!
     -- Not even you, master? -- A yellow butterfly passes over Letuck's back.
     -- Where are you going with this?
     -- I was under the debris, but I'm sure I heard the master saying "You again". -- Three butterflies pass on the back of the saiyan.
     -- Maybe I have said that.
     -- So I'm not the only one who did it. -- a few more butterflies pass on the backs of the two -- The master has also opened the portal that should not be opened.
     -- My case is different. It's my job to know what's behind each portal. -- many butterflies pass through them.
     -- Ah Ha! I caught you, master. -- Letuck points his finger at him. -- I'm also a guardian, do you remember?
     Ponzu stops to pay attention to the increasing amount of butterflies in his house. The saiyan does the same.
     -- Letuck, there's something strange going on around here.
     Both of them watch as the butterflies pass through them until they turn around and find what looks to be a girl, materializing butterflies and blowing them out of her hands.
     -- Who are you? -- Ponzu asked.
     -- My name is Ether and... that's all I can remember.
