~Will~

"I don't wanna look at anything else now that I saw you. I don't wanna think of anything else now that I thought of you" -Taylor Swift

Will awoke to the sound of a text message at 4:30 that morning.

He sighed, breathing in the sweet scent of Isabel, still asleep in his arms beside him.

He carefully shifted on her bed to avoid waking her. He knew she didn't need the extra sleep, but she deserved it, and he wouldn't stand in her way.

He moved his arm she lied on very slowly. He maneuvered his way off the bed successfully, as she still slept wrapped in a blanket he draped on her last night.

He moved towards her desk to check his phone. The message came from his mother. Multiple messages.

12:07 AM

Mom: William? Where are you? I'm worried about you.
——
3:47 AM

Mom: Will, honey, there's something I need to to talk to you about. Please come home.
——
5:02 AM
——
Mom: Will, If you don't come home before school starts this morning, I'm calling the police. Something happened, and we need to discuss it.
Me: I stayed at James' house last night. Sorry to worry you. What's wrong?
Mom: Just come home, something happened.

Will stared at his phone. He had no intention of leaving Isabel this morning, though, he hadn't yet come up with what he was going to say to her mother, who didn't know Will stayed the night.

His mother was never one for theatrics, but sometimes it's hard to tell what she implys when she texts. To play it safe, Will decided he needed to leave. He looked over at Isabel, her beautiful face filled with such calm. Her thick, auburn hair was messy from sleep, and her blanket wrapped tightly around her body. Her breathing was so quiet, almost like she wasn't breathing at all. The only sign of her breathing was the movement of stomach through the blanket.

Will smiled and walked toward where she slept. He bent down and planted a kiss to her temple. It was obvious Will had feelings for Isabel, but the kiss wasn't meant as a romantic gesture. It was more of a 'I'm glad you're okay' farewell kiss. She wouldn't remember it, but Will didn't care. It meant something to him, and one day, maybe it would mean something to her.

Will stared at her for a moment longer before he made his way toward her desk. The homework she left at home still sat in the same spot. He realized it hadn't even been a day before he tried blackmailing her into talking with him. Not one of his finer moments, but effective nonetheless. He never did get to talk with her about what he wanted to talk about, but the point he wanted to make surely got across.

Will liked Isabel, and Isabel had no idea. Her self hatred took that away from her, the ability to believe she could be loved by another human being. He wanted to let her know that she could.

Love and hate are weird feelings. Too much can be blinding or catastrophic. It all just depends on which end of the spectrum you fall on.

It's like a scale. Hate is on one end, love on the other.

Pure hate is what you feel when your love runs out.
