Your heart stopped as soon as Yunho pushed the door of the rescue centre open, hearing the sweet sounds of several cats and kittens running around. Your eyes darted back to Yunho, unable to stop the smile on your face from growing.
"I reckon that we should just take them all."
His head shook, guiding you forwards with a hand in the small of your back to the first of the enclosures that was filled with two tabby cats.
The two of you had discussed adopting for quite some time, but you just couldn't agree on anything. Eventually, when you saw an advert for a nearby rescue centre who were looking to rehome some cats, you knew it was your calling, without any arguments.
"Is there anything you're particularly looking for?" Yunho asked as you began to walk down the line of enclosures, "any color, or size?"
Your head shook, you were open to anything, and all Yunho wanted was for you to leave the store happy. "I just want a happy cat, or kitten, someone who we'll love."
His head nodded, happy to take a step back and let you explore further. After all, it was going to be you who ended up doing most of the caring whilst Yunho was away with promotions and tours, you'd be the one to look after whichever cat you adopted.
Your attention was soon drawn to a young grey cat in one of the enclosures, playing with one of their toys. A small coo came from you as your hand reached out to beckon Yunho across to have a look too. Even he couldn't believe how sweet the cat was as he took a good look at it.
As he then glanced across at you, he could tell how taken aback by it you were. Whilst you'd loved all of the cats you'd seen; this one definitely caught your eye. The young kitten was full of energy, which was exactly what you wanted.
"They're a cutie," Yunho hummed, resting his chin against your shoulder, "they definitely look like they could be a handful around the apartment too."
"I like that though," you whispered back to him, "I want something that will make me feel like I'm not all alone when you're away for long periods of time, a cat that I can play with."
His head nodded, just as one of the volunteers approached the two of you having spotted how closely the two of you were watching the young kitten playing around.
As soon as she saw how kindly the two of you looked at her, she knew she had to make all the effort to rehome her. "I see you've spotted Dotty, not many people give her attention because she loves to race around and cause chaos."
"Maybe we could change that?" Yunho suggested, noticing your eyes glancing back to him.
You watched on as the volunteer managed to pick her up from the enclosure, wrapping her gently in her hands so that the two of you could get a closer look. As you moved your hand forwards, her head came forwards, nuzzling gently against your knuckle.
"Look Yunho," you squealed, "it's like she's trying to tell us she wants us."
As much as he wanted to look at a few of the other cats too, he couldn't deny that his heart had been stolen by the little kitten before him. She had a sweet personality, and plenty of character, which was what he knew you were searching for.
"If you guys want a moment to talk, I'll head back over to the desk."
You thanked her as she placed Dotty back before walking back over to the desk. You spun around on your heels so that you came face to face with Yunho.
"I know you want her," he chuckled, "your smile definitely gives it away. I think she would be a nice addition to the family too, and I know that she'd be able to keep you great company whilst I'm away too."
You sat yourself down in front of the enclosure, peering in as Dotty yet again ran towards you, staring up at you through the protective glass between you both. You rested your hand up against the glass, looking back at Yunho once again as you felt your heart pound in your chest at how sweet the little one was.
As much as he didn't want to admit it, he could already see how perfectly she would fit into your family. But best of all, he could see how happy you were with her by the wide smile on your face which was all that mattered to him.
"What do you think?" You asked him, having yet to really hear his opinion on the matter. "Do you want to get her too?"
His head nodded, kneeling down beside you. "I do, she looks like she could do with a loving home, and two people with plenty of energy to be able to look after her. I don't think we'll find a cat more suitable for the two of us today."
"Shall we go and let them know that we want her then?"
His smile grew, leading you over to the desk where the volunteer was already waiting. Whilst the two of you read through all the forms, she made her way over to pick up Dotty and get her settled in the carrier which would take her to your home.
"I'm glad she has people like you who will love her," she spoke up as she walked back over, "I've witnessed too many people just walk past her over the past couple of months."
"I don't see how she wasn't scooped up right away," you frowned.
"Some people just judge on face value."
The two of you finished reading up all of the adoption forms, signing off the documents where you needed to before being handed the carrier and a bag of all of Dotty's favourite treats, including the toy that you first saw her play with.
"We can't forget that," you chuckled as you took the bag from the volunteer, whilst Yunho took care of picking up the carrier.
You rushed ahead of him to grab the door as you made your way back to the car, "are you sure we've got everything for her before we head home?"
"We'll soon find out," you smiled, waving to the receptionist before walking back out into the car park and making your way over to the car.
You opened up the door to the passenger seat so that Yunho could place the carrier down, in between your legs. "The start of the journey to your new home," Yunho said as he carefully positioned the carrier.
"I can't believe we have her," you smiled.
Yunho raced around to the driver's seat once you were comfortably in the car. "I never imagined that we'd actually end up leaving here today with a cat, or just one. I know you wanted to take all of them one."
"One day I'm going to find a way to make sure all of those kittens come home with us, you just wait and see."
"I have no doubts that you will."
